My bf has been separated for 2 1/2 years. We cannot afford for him to get a divorce, which is incredibly frustrating. For the most part his "ex" and I get along-- we barely speak but I insist that my bf's kids follow her rules, I help them get her gifts and make sure they make her valentine's day cards, and she returns the compliment by helping them get me gifts as well. Things were going fine besides the fact that I want to marry this man and can't because we're all poor...until this morning.

She woke us up at 5:30 am because her mother fell and couldn't get up. As far as I know she wasn't injured, but her mother is very obese and has bad knees. I was really angry. We live right down the street from her and she wanted Sean to come right away and pick her up. I understand it would be nice for us to help, but at 5:30?? Surely she could have made her mother comfortable until a reasonable hour.
Am I being unreasonable myself? i feel like my bf's responsibilities are to the girls, not this woman's mother. This mother doesn't make any effort to take care of herself, eats nothing but hot dogs, doesn't bathe, makes the girls clean her when she does, yells at the girls (like the "ex" does...), throws things at them, and is just awful. Where is the line on my bf's responsibilities to that household?
