Yeah...I was walking along to the shop because I really wanted a slushee and it was really hot out...

And I saw a tiny little bird hopping around in front of a parked car. I was like wtf...why isn't he flying away?!

The poor fella was injured.

So...I got my slushee and told myself...if he's still there on the way back I'll take him home and bring him to the vet on Monday. He was so small I felt sorry for him like.

On my way back...he was still there...trying to hide by the side of the car from everybody passed.

I went home...got a blanket and threw it over him...to catch him...

I'm pregnant...So I'm not that good at chasing and bending...So a blanket is the best idea.

I brought him home and put him in the sitting room....gave him some bread and water.

I spent ages just doting on him...he was lookin' at me with big brown eyes and he was so fluffy.

So eventually I went to bed..and left the place in darkness...

I got up the next morning....and he was dead?!

How the hell did that happen?!

All was wrong was his tail looked broken!! And now I feel like shite about it all...Because he died on his own...ya know...

:(

It is quite common, It would have also been in shock. I know you had good intentions but death is a natural thing, don't feel sad but feel good in knowing that you gave this little bird a few moments of peace before it died, that had to be better than being run over by a car.

Could have been the bread. It's processed and has a lot of salt in it. Plus it bloats in their stomach when they drink.

I didn't have the heart to say that.

There is also the stress from initially being captured and then being held captive, it is a wild bird so this would have been stressful too.

Well...I gave him the bread and water but I don't think he took any...

I didn't know that it would do that though, I throw bread out to the birds nearly every day!

Wow.

Poor thing though...I guess I didn't even think about how frightened he was of me...Which he obviously was.

Could stress kill him, I mean on top of his other injuries?
