I normally only get 2D scans of the baby, so we're going to get a 3D ultrasound. You get a detailed scan of the baby, a full printed report, a DVD of the foetus!!, and black and white, and coloured images of the foetus!! It's booked for 4th June, when I will be 27 weeks pregnant! I can't wait. Did anyone else get one of these, and if so, what's it like?

Ours is going to cost £280, which is around $551! It's expensive, but I'm sure well worth it! Imagine having a DVD of yourself in the womb? It'll be priceless for him!

I got one. I had it done at 28 weeks. They say around then is the best time. It was ok. the woman who did mine was a bit of an idiot. Ask if you can get your dvd recorded to music. Ours is this batty woman talking about how big her kids were and asking us about the town we lived in... nothing to do with our baby! We got a huge discount b/c she had no idea what she was doing (she was filling in for the owner of the business)

whats the difference b/ that and a 4D?

Aw I can't wait to get mine! I don't think there's much difference between 3D and 4D. I think they are pretty much the same. I think the images are referred to as 3D, and the DVD is referred to as 4D ...

thats great, dino thought it was tooo expensive and that you are not always going to get a gooood picture and then you are out alot of money. he worked in bio med for a long time and worked on thoes machines. but thats great.,

I had it done with my first, but we decided not to do it this time. Mine came out okay. The placenta was right in front of her face so the pictures are a little blurry, but watching her on the sreen was amazing. We got to see her yawn and stretch - that was the best part.

The 3D refers to the three-dimensional still shots and 4D refers to the moving pictures that are captured on DVD:) And it's best to wait until at least 28 weeks cause before then they look a little scary lol! You want to wait until they plump up a bit and look more like babies and less like aliens!

Yeah I had wanted to wait till about 29 weeks to get it done, but then the guy at the clinic said the best time to get it done at 26-27 weeks ... so I was booked in at 27-weeks ...

28-32 weeks is best time for the full body and 33-35 weeks is best for face close-ups
