Hey ladies. I'm 13 weeks and I've been missing a lot of work in the past couple weeks. My morning sickness is getting worse rather than better it would appear and I have to call in late 3 out of 5 days of the week and I often miss a whole day or the majority of a day once a week due to it. Is anyone else experiencing this? I know a lot of you are getting morning sickness like me but is it causing you to miss work? I usually can't hold anything down until 9:30-10am or so and feel awfully naseous. I have a desk job at a fireplace store and find it impossible to focus on paperwork, the computer screen and the phone/customers when my stomache is in my throat.

Just curious if I'm being a baby about this or if other women are missing work as well.

I'm just concerned that my employer is getting frustrated with me for all the work I miss. I'm the only one there who is able to do the paperwork for them, get stuff ordered...all that stuff. They have no back up. It's me and two other guys there who are completely computer illiterate. I try and go in as much as I can but in the past couple weeks I'm finding it harder and harder to get to work. My Doctor had mentioned something called...Dilantin...or something like that. A med. I could take to help with the morning sickness and I'm considering it.

Hey Angela... talking about missing WORK? I had to quit my job and move up north with my mom. I was so sick, I couldn't even leave the house. Check my journal out. ErikazBaby

I was lucky that my boss was pretty understanding. I had a desk job during the morning sickness, which lasted into the fifth month. I lost 15 lbs. and at one point, my Dr. told me that if I couldn't keep anything down I would have to get an IV at the hospital. I did go to work every day, I just ran to the bathroom when I needed to, fainted once. (At my job you can't miss more than 3 days in 6 months, or they can fire you.) I found that sea sick bracelets really helped and I kept saltine crackers at my desk. Just think, in a few weeks it'll be over. Morning sickness is really bad if you have it, most of my friends never even had the slightest bit of nausea. Just hang in there, you're not being a baby about it, it's tough.

I quit my job too. I waited tables 5 nights a week and kept calling in sick all the time which they didn't like too much. but also they were really mean about me being pregnant and not understanding. I had to cry to a bunch of people before they would honor my wishes for not being in the smoking sections. Then when I came in to work while being sick and wanted to sit down( it wasn't busy yet, i had no tables and we were all standing there) they wouldn't let me. My fiancee basically made me quit then because he didn't want me to hurt myself or the baby.
