I've been thinking about c-sections a lot lately and got to thinking about how they cut you open. See im a big girl anyway (before I was pregnant) and I've got a fold in my skin where my belly is big. I am afraid that if I were to need a csection the kind of incision they perform would'nt heal correctly for me. The area they would cut stays moist due to my skin overlapping - therefore making it a higher risk to get infected. I know there is another way to make the incision, but I don't know much about it - the up to down cut instead of the left to right cut. Has anyone ever been in that situation or had that kind of incision? Would it be wise to ask the doctor to cut that way instead of the normal if I were to need a C-section?

I had a transverse cut, but even if they do an up or down, they still cut across. Those inscisions take a lot longer to heal and they really only do them if mom or baby are in danger. There is a much higher risk of your uterus tearing in future pregnancies. As for your folds, you can use bandages to help with moisture. I'm not a big girl so I never had that problem.

I can see it now. Not only would I be wearing pads in my panties, I would be wearing them on my tummy too LOL. Hopefully all will go well and she'll just slide out the way she's supposed to.

i gained alot of weight with my last pregnancy, so when she came out everything drooped....you just have to be more careful, with keeping it dry and stuff...mine healed very nicely....you can hardly see the scar at all....
