I'm really interested in how many women these days have C sections compared with women giving birth naturally. In N.Ireland we have the NHS, so C Sections are only used when absolutely neccessary, and are rarely elective. But in the States it seems, probably because Health Insurance is privatised, that C Sections are the more common way to have your baby.
Could you all write in your name, age, location, how you had your baby, and if C Sectioned, the reason why. (If you're willing to share that information of course) Thank you! ↓

I'll start!
Gillian, 24 (although I was 23 when I gave birth) Belfast, N.Ireland, Natural Delivery ↑ |
Rose, 21, New Zealand Wellington, I had my baby Natural =) ↑ |
Angelina

Republic of Ireland
Caesarean Section;
11 days over due and doc's weren't happy to allow me go any longer [there was confusion with my dates whether I was 11 overdue or more]. I was offered an induction but I refused because was told my baby would be 10 lbs plus and no woman in my family has birthed successfully. Therefore it was called an elective caesarean. ↑ |
Davina,22(19 when i had my daughter),daytona beach FL, natural delivery after being induced(5days over due)...im currently 4 and a half months pregnant and plan on a natural delivery again, unless my /bp goes crazy and i have to have an immediate delivery(i was told that a possibility this time) ↑ |
Courtney, 27 (24 when I had my son), Ohio, c-section at 38 weeks because I pushed for 4 hours and his head would not drop, currently 17 weeks pregnant and doctor recommended repeat c-section because of complications with first pregnancy and I'm classified as high risk this time due to pre eclampsia with first. ↑ |
Coart where is your life story? aahahaha. ↑ |
Canada, c section
My son had an unstable lie. After 27 hours of labour his heart slowed and so did my contractions. ↑ |
USA, First baby MD turned off the epidural and I felt everything.
Second baby emergency c-section due to cord prolapse.
This baby who knows what the doctors agenda will be. Due to my history it will probably be another c-section. In the US, the doctors like to do them; there are less law suits. ↑ |
First and foremost, I take offense to C-Section versus "Normal" Delivery. I feel like many people are under the misconception that when you have a c-section you are missing out of something. You are giving birth to you baby either way!
With that said:
Nikki, 21, USA, C-Section, water broke 5 weeks early and baby was breech, had to have a c-section. Cord was also wrapped around her body twice, so tight that she had bruises on her back. ↑ |
Why would you take Offense to it ??
Whats the diffirence between C Sections versus natural AND Natural versus C sections... ??? She just so happened to put it in that order lol...
I dont think she was intending to Offend anyone.. its a genuine Question.. she was just curious. ↑ |
Actually sorry Nikki.. i THOUGHT it said " natural " But yes it did say normal..
And i think ANY WAY of giving birth wether that means C section or Natural is Normal...
My mistake lol. ↑ |
I think she said normal because natural and vaginal are two different things. A natural birth is with no drugs or interventions... ↑ |
Nikkis, offence or no offence, it's what it is called - On the little tag on my son's wrist and foot in the hospital it said 'Boy - Normal Delivery' ↑ |
And at any rate, I understand why it says that. Normal means ' of natural occurance' in medicine.
I didn't suggest that C Sections weren't giving birth to your baby. Of course they are. But they aren't the way nature intended for women to give birth, and therefore in medicine are not considered a 'natural' or 'normal' delivery. ↑ |
I'm jealous of people who had a natural birth.
I remember seeing a woman come in during her labour. She was walking around in the bed across from me tidying her bags away half an hour later while I was crippling out of the bed to get a drink . Rofl ↑ |
lol Lola, i went home 3 hours after giving birth.. I didnt wanna stay in the hospital =D ↑ |
Aw it's not all it's cranked up to be Lola. Well, not all the time. I tore during delivery, and needed stitches, which came away on their own the next day. I was in agony, and then I got infected, and now I think I'm infected again. :( ↑ |
my delivery was fine. minus the amount of hours i was in labor and without food. lol .. i had one stitch and it wasnt big at all. no infections, healed nicely. only bled for about 1.5 weeks. and he was 8 lbs even. there ya go with my life story. and i left 12 hours after having him bc he had to be transferred to the nicu at another hospital. ↑ |
3 hours! God damnit! XD
I think I was waiting about 7 hours to see my consultant when I was booked in. Then I was told he wouldn't be coming round until the following mornin' so I kicked up a stink and said I was goin' home so they called him in fer me. Ho yeah.
I wish it was all over in 3 hours! ↑ |

24 now, 23 at time of delivery.
Ontario, Canada
Vaginal Delivery. After 2 days of first stage labour contractions I went to the hospital and had my water broke at noon. My daugter was born vaginally with the help of the vaccuum just over 5 hours later. I tore a lot as well. If my delivery had of taken any longer I'm sure there would have been a c-section involved. Her heart rate dropped dangerously and she wasn't coming out fast enough, hence, the vaccuum extraction. ↑ |
Kyra, 29, Los Angeles CA., first - normal and natural, second - normal and natural. ↑ |
