I got Josh done when he was about 3 weeks old. Neither Paul or I went into the room with him because we didn't want to watch, they just came in and grabbed him and brought him back literally 3 minutes later. He wasn't crying or upset or anything. It never did bother him and the PlastiBell fell off about 4 days later with no problem. It was all healed within a week. If I have another boy I'll do the same.

well its really the more sanitary thing to do in all honesty. i mean i can sit here and say im all about it, my husband is all about it, but its not you, and its not your kid. the decision is really yours

I doubt that they don't feel it at all VM2B - but it really wasn't so bad. They numb the area with a shot (which I'm sure hurts just like any shot). Josh was fine afterwards... he didn't even cry or wince when I wiped or cleaned it that night.

i got my son circ and im glad i did. It looks way better than those uncircumcied and is much cleaner. It hurt him a little even though he got the area numb but he was fine within 2 days

I also think it looks nicer when it's cut

my son is not circumsized, i wasnt with my husband when he was born, so i didnt give it much thought. I dont have a problem with it, im sure he'll learn how to clean the area when he's older, the only thing im worried about is how he's gonna feel about it when hes older; i dont want him to be mad at me for not having him done. i guess it's more of a social thing. But my brothers were not circumsized and they've never had any problems keeping clean OR socially. I guess it's just your choice.

yes...i had my son done a couple hours after birth and if this one's a boy then i'll have him done too. but ge didn't get a plastic ring, they just put cloth around his and told me not to take it off, that it would fall off...and it didn't about 2 days later.

I got my son done when he was less than 24 hours old. Neither of us went with him, but it took less than 10 minutes and when he came back he was sound asleep and it never seemed to bother him. They gave him a little needle to freeze it (they said thats the most painful part) and then strapped him down. They said that is when most babies cry as they don't like their arms and head being restrained. I think as long as yu put vaseline in their diapers to keep it from sticking, it doesn't cause them too much pain. Kaden never fussed.

Personally, I think it's just disgusting to cut off the skin of your baby's penis...or anywhere of your baby. It's not really cleaner, you just have to not be lazy enough to teach your son how to clean it. I have friends who had their boys circumsized and they said they would scream everytime they peed b/c it would hurt them. Thanks, but no thanks.

Im having Tyler done, they do it in the hospital if you want, but its cleaner and Chris my husband is done, and ive never heard of a guy complain about getting it done, and i have heard of a few guys in their 20's that didnt have it done that got it done!

my step dad is jewish, so my little brother was circumcised, and supposedly i was there with my mom when he had it done, i was 6 and Mitch was screaming because they held him down, and my mom thought that i was gonna be traumatized by seeing him scream, but i obviously wasn't, cuz i don't remember it!! lol
and then a baby was circumcised on my kitchen table, its this huge ceremony called a bris is the jewish religion, they took the baby and numbed him up in the bed room and cut away the skin, he hardly ever cried and was fine with in a few minutes

well if i have a boy i do not wanna do it i think if thay are born like that then god made his perfect and not to be changed haveing forskin does not mean its unclean ... you make your kids clean why giveing a bath and such .... i think when thay are older thay will know that that part of thare body needs more cleaning but its ok cuz you gotta clean it anyways

I didn't get my son done. I just felt bad and God made the penis that way for a reason. My brothers didn't get done and they are just fine. They do say it's cleaner though, but it's really up to the parents.

Coartney not true they feel it alright I have had all three of my sons done they scream because it hurts like hell. I watched them do it. They force the skin back from the penis them camp it and cut it off. Afterwards if look gross and you need to put vasoline on the nappy so the penis dosn't stick to it.

Name: Coartney | Date: Mar 23rd, 2007 3:28 AM
well yeh they feel it, but not all that much, most babies do cry b.c they are being held down, they fuss about that more. id rather have it done early on to where i wouldnt remember it then to have it done when im like 20

we are going to have our son circumsized when he is born, mainly because his father is and we dont want him to think he is different. also its a regional thing too... more europeans arent circumsized than americans

Name: lana_81 | Date: Mar 23rd, 2007 4:23 AM
We got our boys done! all places are differnt in doing it though, with ours they just gave them a small local needle to numb the area , my sisters boy had to put cream on every 15 minutes for an hour then go back and they sedated him a little! Its not that they dont feel the pain its that they dont remember.. Do you remember when you were a newborn? I Definately dont. I also has 3 of my kids tongue ties snipped as new babys and they didnt get any medicine for that.. ( unusual for 3 out of 4 siblings to have this, usualy 5 in every thousand babys are born with tongue tie) Each to there own about the willy though, its alot neater i think. I wonder how curcumsision come about though and why they started doing it, would be interesting i think.

Name: Meagan | Date: Mar 23rd, 2007 4:33 AM
no..... They don't really do it these days... Circumsisions stopped being teached in 1989!... some people say that it's cleaner and that if you don't you have to pull the foreskin back and clean but you don't... and it's just as clean as a baby that has been cicumcised... Nothing can get in there... So i myself say no... why put my baby under the stress and pain of being circumsised when there is no need for it... but each to there own!....

Name: rachtwins | Date: Mar 23rd, 2007 5:03 AM
My doctor said it hurts more to get the needle to numb it than the circumcison so here they don't numb it at all, they cry because it hurts like hell, nothing to do with being held there Coutney. They are to young to realise they are being held in the same spot.

I'd have to say it would bloody hurt! think about it they are cutting a bit of skin off!..... If someone tried to cut a bit of my skin off i'd punch them out!.......

Name: rachtwins | Date: Mar 23rd, 2007 6:25 AM
yeah that and ripping the foreskin away from the penis the foreskin dosen't retract until about 6 years old
