I'm nearly 17 weeks pregnant and I'm pretty sure I can feel my baby move and even kick me sometimes. At first it was barely noticeable now I'm pretty positive it's my baby. But the thing is, it hurts! ! It feels like my baby's biting me or even pinching me from the inside! is this normal?? Could there be something wrong??

wow... I remember my baby having hiccups and kicking when I was furthur along then u...but nothing like that... I doubt the baby is pinching you tho nor is he biteing... you should make an appointment and tell the doctor the discomfort you've been feeling..honestly it could be the baby but I really don't thing it's the baby itself..

I don't know how else to describe the little pains I feel. I think the reason why I can feel my baby moving so early is because I'm relatively thin and have put myself on bedrest. So I sit in bed all day and all night and it's my first pregnancy so I pay attention to EVERY little twinge I feel in that general area lol.

yeah, i can understand that!... It could be just all the mussels streching and the weird things happening in side your body that feels that way too.

you put yourself on bedrest? why? I'm thin as well and felt my baby girl for the first time at 18 weeks. Now i'm almost 21 weeks and I swear she's doing gymnastics in my uterus. She kicks my cervix sometimes so it makes me hurt "down there" for a second or so, but never the pains that you've described. I agree with Julie, you need to tell your dr. about it. It's probably nothing serious, but it's better to be on the safe side.

julie - at first i thought it was that round ligament pain. I first experienced round ligament pain at 13 weeks and I could tell this was different. Thats why I thought it was my baby. Also, at first the little "pains" would only occur once or twice a day and now I feel them on and off pretty frequently all day.

Kristy - I put myself on bedrest because a little over a week ago I passed out in my bathroom. I collapsed and fell on my tail bone and hit my head on the bathtub edge. The bump on my head has gone away so has the bruise on my side from taking out a magazine rack. Everythings healed except my tail bone. And because of it, my hips hurt sooooo bad. I heard that your pelvic bones "shift" during pregnancy and I think from me falling I knocked something out of whack. My hips hurt 24/7, whether I'm laying on them or standing up and tylenol does nothing. Tylenol doesn't even dull the pain, it's constant. So I figure since I don't work anyway, I would just try to stay off my feet as much as possible. So I lay in bed all day with pillows on either side of my hips to alleviate the pain.

That might be a good idea for a little bit, but soon you're going to want to start getting active again. Your pain will never go away if your don't keep your tendons stretched and muscles in good shape. What did your dr. say about the bedrest?

I called my doctor immediately after I passed out and only got to her receptionist. After putting me on hold for 15 minutes she finally told me just to go to the e.r. This wasn't the first time I have passed out in my life time nor in my pregnancy. I would just go to the hospital, they'd check my heart rate, blood sugar, and schedule an eeg. and everything will come back normal so i decided against going to the e.r. my doctor doesn't know that I put myself on bedrest but I have another appointment in two weeks. I plan on letting her know everything that happened and what I've been doing to cope with the pain.

Pregnancy is full of aches, pains and discomfort and it's something that you'll have to get used to I'm afraid. If you're feeling like this at only 17 weeks then wait until you're 35 weeks.
Your baby can't hurt you or cause any damage to your insides and ligaments stretching during pregnancy are very painful. Try to get some gentle exercise and going swimming also helps too. If your doctor tells you everything is fine then don't worry about things. Don't put yourself on bedrest as you'll increase the risk of developing blood clots in your legs. You need to keep going about as normal. Pregnancy isn't an illness, although it can sometimes feel like one.

Spanky..
I too passed out quite frequently through my first pregnancy. I was pretty thin also at that time. I even fell down the stairs a few time. try eating more sugar. My doc actually said I was trying to eat too healthy. I wasnt getting enough sugar. Kicking can be uncomfortable but by al means should put you in agony at least not yet. mine used to curl her toes in my rib cage but tht was at 8 months... check it out.

IS IT LIKE A STINGING OR NIPPING FEELING?, I HAVE BEEN HAVING THAT ON AND OFF FOR SOMETIME MOSTLY AROUND MY TUMMY BUTTON AREA. IF IT IS IT'S FINE I ASKED MY ANTENATAL DOCTOR SHE SAID THAT SOME PEOPLE GET THIS AND ITS FINE ITS JUST STRETCHING.

I finally broke down and called my doctor this morning with complaints of the pains in my stomach and my tailbone area.she told me to go to the e.r. and have them see if my tail bone is broken. Sure enough, it's broke. So she congratulated me on going on bed rest and not aggravating the break any more than it already is.
As far as pinching feeling in my stomach, the people in the e.r. had no clue. They figure since I get an ultrasound on the 17th, it'd be safe to wait until then to see if things are progressing properly with the baby.

I am 17 weeks as well. About 14 weeks while I was sitting down I was feeling as if someone taking their hand, pushing on my rib and moving over just a little bit. At first I was like "What the Heck" and started asking around because I didn't feel that I was far enough along to be feeling any movement from my baby and I only remembered feeling a flutter with my son at about 17 weeks. I talked to my friend who had twins last October to see if she had any weird feelings like this (since I was on clomid I have a chance of having twins) but she told me that she never had feelings like this. That all she felt was what she passed off as gas.

Last night I officially know that I am feeling my baby. I went to our local festival and Violent Femmes where playing and my little angel was dancing away. Which actually gave me alot of relief.

If the pain (the biting or pinching feeling) is extremely bothersome I would insist that your doctor check into it. Although it might just be because everything is stretching you can never be to safe. Did this pain start before or after your fall?

Oh I almost forgot. My son constantly kicked me in my rib cage to the point that they were bruised. I even had bruides on the outside. By the end of my pregnancy he was so cramped that even when he finally dropped he was still in my rib cage. So as far as not being able to hurt you, they can. You just don't have to worry that they are going to cause anything to serious.

I read in one of your responses below that your tailbone is broke. Did it break when you fainted? You see, I've been having horrible pain in my tailbone and I have no answer as to why. I see the doctor on Tuesday but until then walking hurts like heck! I hope you'll be ok and back on your feet soon.

ethansmom - i completely dismissed the pain to be stretching because i've experienced the stretching of my ligaments and muscles off and on already and this feels nothing like that. it literally feels like there's a hand in my lower abdoment pulling at my skin from the inside. it's painful but not to where i have to stop what i'm doing, just painful enough to get my attention.

april j - my tailbone broke from my collapse in the bathroom. and i think i read somewhere that as your baby descends head first towards your cervix, it puts increased pressure on your tailbone. so if you're in your last trimester, maybe that's what it is. if you're not in the last trimester, what's painful when it comes to your tailbone?? i.e. sitting, getting up, bending over, etc.

Okay so I went online and maybe this might help somewhat.

There are several possibilities for this type of feelings. One is that you might be having uterine contraction. These types of contraction are usually mild and can start to occur from early pregnancy. Most of the time you can not feel these contraction but on occassion you can. These types of contractions do not cause the cervix to soften or dilate.

Another reason for his might be the stretching of the round ligaments. These crampy, stretchy pain is usually felt in the groin and is ofter worse with each pregnancy.

For people who have had c-section the stretching of your uterus can tweak the scar tissue causing intermittent pain.

All pain however should be examined. Pain can be a sign of real contraction of even be a sign of an incompetent cervix.

April J-

It could be your sciatic nerve. This would cause you great pain in your tail bone area.
