I just found out I am pregnant 2 days ago! WOW I have my first doctors appt. Tuesday... Today I don't know if I forgot I am pregnant or just don't know how much I can withstand but I tried to do a "side sit-up" and now I have pain in my side it's kinda like a cramp like. What kind of exercises can I do in order to avoid pain yet keep down weight? Thanks

At your doctor's office, they should have reading material on this, I would ask your doctor. I was surprised to read in one that you can still jog (if you did before getting pregnant). I don't know why I was surprised, but I guess I thought jogging would jiggle the little baby around in there. Doing sit ups does not sound like it would be good to be doing during pregnancy though, but I would ask the doc.

Patrice,
I exercised during my first pregnancy and I'm at it again. You can do sit-ups up until the end of the first trimester (although I never felt comfortable doing them they are supposed to be safe). I'm six months now and walk at least 3 miles or do the eliptical machine everyday and I lift weights if I'm tired and not up to lifting weights I stretch and call it a day. Good luck...by the way exercising while I was pregnant helped me lose my pregnancy weight in about 8 wks and some and I felt great!!

I never knew you could do the sit ups, I do wish I would of thought of working out, but I didn't & now I guess I am paying for it :(

I never exercised before pregnancy. Is it okay to go ahead and start while pregnant? I was thinking of just walking maybe 2 miles a day.
