I asked the doctor about this since I had read on here about eating the jelly beans rather than drinking the nasty syrup stuff. He said that unless the is a viable reason to use the jelly beans you shouldn't because the results won't be as accurate.
Point being, when it comes time to take the glucose test, don't eat the jelly beans without clearing it with your OB first.
Have a great night all!

the syrup really isn't that bad, at least the kind i drank wasn't. it was like drinking a really sweet version of orange crush soda. also you only have to drink a little bit, it isn't like a whole glass. i just took it like it was a shot. lol.

Mines wasnt bad either. infact it was like Coka cola, it had the same taste, color and look of coke. It actually tasted cold and refreshing.

Aw man when I did it they told me I had 5 minutes to finish it...I was thinking "this is gonna suck" so i chugged the little glass and said "ok" and she said "umm you have to drink the whole bottle" it was disgusting! and I felt so sick afterwards.

When I took the glucose test with my son I gagged. This time around I was actually given the glucose drink to take home and put it in the refrigerator. It is actually not to bad cold. As mentioned by Melissa it tasted like orange soda. When it was warm not so much.

I had to do both the one hour and three hour tests and I didn't think either time the drink tasted bad. Mine were really really cold though. The bottles even had frost on the outside of them. Like others said, it just tasted like Orange soda. If anyone is going in to take this test, see if you can get your drink chilled. It will make a world of difference.

My dr. recommended the jelly beans and if you look on the Harvard study on-line you'll see that the results are just as accurate as that of the syrup. You have to eat 18 brach sized jelly beans. I mean they studied this extensively and it worked just as well.
