Hey thanks for the advice. I guess I just stick with the tums till I can get to the dr. and see if there is anything safe to take that works better.

i have heartburn ALL THE TIME too. i mean all the time. this is my 2nd pregnancy, and with my first, they ended up giving me zantac, (rx), which worked great. this time, i tried everything before telling my ob that i would need something stronger. milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, tums, etc. i would have to "recline" instead of laying down because it was so bad. unfortunately, none of these worked, so once again, i got a prescription. i still get it occasionally, but not as bad as before. and by the way, everyone told me my baby would be born with lots of hair, and..... yeah right! i had the baldest baby in the hospital!

Well first of all make sure not to over eat!! Eat smaller meals. Don't eat before bed time. Wait at least 2 hours. NO caffeine No spicy food. Oh and I found out that apple juice of all things was giving me heartburn. I drank it all the time too not knowing. It's been a blessing since I figured it out. They say to drink fluids between meals and not with meals, but I can't do that, I down at least 16 ounces of water or decaffeinated tea when I eat. Greasy foods can trigger heartburn, tomatoe sauce which I can't live without, I love speghetti. Also stay away from chocolate, citrus fruits, juices and carbonated beverages.
Hope this helps and good luck. It pretty much worked for me.

And by the way, I had heartburn soo bad I wanted to cry and then tried these things. Now only once in awhile I'll get a small case, that's cause of the things I eat though that are on the no no list. I'm 34 weeks preggy just to let you know and I've never taken anything to relief the heartburn.
