Hiall,I have just woken up feeling itchy everywhere but down there lol,
my husband suggested shower which i had and scratched the daylights out of myself, I was even itchy on my face, eyelids, ears, fingers, feet, it was sooooo annoying,
could this be a pregnacy hormonal thing, has anyone ever experienced this?
Im in my 2nd trimester, there wasnt a rash, just very very red from digging my nails into it, and i wasnt bitten by anything, just itchy, even my head was itchy but couldnt wash it as it was night and cold!
pls anyone if you have ever had this or knows this to be normal during pregnacy let me know, thank you so much!!!

I was itchy my entire pregnancy, the lotion companies loved me. $$$ Palmer's Coco Butter Formula for dry itchy skin did help.

You can also take Benadryl 25 mg 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed for itching. It is safe to take during the 2nd trimester in pregnancy. Most experts don't advise taking it during the 3rd trimester because of the possibility of it decreasing the production of amniotic fluid.

I have been doing the same thing... I am 19 weeks and it started this week. It comes and goes... I will itch all over and it's like an allergic reaction or something..., I take benedryl when this happens and it goes away...

It is the hormones, I went thru the same thing (not quite extreme though, it was mainly on my belly and chest and arms) The doctor prescibed me hydrocortizone cream and said that I could take benadryl. I would still suggest talking to your doctor about this to make sure this is right for you.
P.s. I never did the benadryl, and eventually the itchiness went away. I'm now 35 weeks preggy and just ocasionally on my belly is all i get.

It was rude...but kinda funny...my husband tells me that all the time as a joke...even if I'm still drying off! Man I miss him. He's in Iraq right now. Thanks for the giggle Bianca. Mrs. Itchy...don't take it personal!

By the way...I forgot to ask...have you changed anything in your lifestyle lately...food, laundry detergent? I got really itchy about 9 months ago (before I got pregnant) and I did everything from showering 3 times a day, lotions, benadryl...turned out that it was the laundry detergent our roommate used. I started to run an extra empty wash cycle just to rinse out the washer and the itchies went away. If nothing else, call your doctor!

ok first off I know this going to sound like a very hard thing to do but STOP ITCHING and put lotion on. if you itch you will get more stretch marks not that not itching is going to keep you from those if that is what the good Lord wants you to have. yes when I was pregnant with my son I got ver itch it is irrtating as hell but if you rub lotion on you it should help to ease the itchieness. ( that was probaly very badly mispelled) if it continues call your doc and see what he or she says about it.
good luck:)
