I am 8 days late, later than I've ever been when you could usually set a clock by me. My husband and I both suspect I might be pregnant, but two home tests said negative. I have a number of symptoms including this filling sensation in my lower abdomen as if my uterus is growing, something I've never experienced before, and I'm convinced I felt implantation. If that's the case then I would be just over 6 weeks along.

Everyone on this board I'm sure knows just how infuriating it can be to wait for the urine tests to work, I'm itching to try a blood test so I can stop worrying.

The problem, however, is that my husbands new job won't have him on the company insurance for three months and we don't have any other health insurance right now.

How much have you ladies been charged for bloodtests without insurance help?

Maybe you should go to the locan Planned Parenthood - or - whatever kind of clinics are in your area. There are alot of places where women can go to find out if they are pregnant or not ----- and I think that they are free.
Good luck! [3

Planned Parenthood never even occured to me! Haha. Thank you. I'll start my search now.

I have no idea what to expect! I've never been through this before since my Hubby and I have been so careful to wait till my college was finished. I've only been out of school for a few short months! How exciting! Life moves fast, doesn't it?

Silver----If the planned parenthood woun't do the blood testing on you--If you still want the blood test, I would call the local hospital and ask them how much the HCG testing is? I worked in our Hospital lab for about 4 or so years and every hospital is different. You will be charged for the amount of the test and a drawing fee. (usually around $10.00) Make sure that when you have them on the phone you ask them if you have to have orders for it, or if you can just pay for it? If it is something that you have to have orders for, try and find a walk in clinic to go to.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!!

Silver---
I forgot, there is something else you can try....Your regualr OB Dr that you go to for your yearly...You can always give them a call and ask them to order it for you and fax it over to the hospital. If they will do that, then you can make an appt with them for after your insurance is effective :)

Sara D. ---Is there typically a lab fee included? It would be wonderful if it was only $10. Money is in short supply right now for us. I had a car wreck just over two weeks ago and now have to look into making payments again when my poor totaled car was paid for. (Thank God for airbags! I came out unscathed while the other poor lady went to the hospital. She had an older car and crossed into my lane of traffic coming from the opposite direction.)

I'm really excited about this if I am pregnant. (but no matter how POSITIVE I am, I won't believe it %100 until I see those two lines show up!) It's just so painful waiting for a urine test to work!

I so feel pregnant (sore boobs that feel bigger, mild nausea, lots of potty breaks!, I think I actually feel my uterus growing- its this pressure in my lower abdomen, exhaustion, hungrier than usual, headaches when I never get them, etc!) I hope it's true! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Thank you ladies for responding! It means a lot.

Yes, if the lab draws the blood they charge you that fee. The fee is for the technicial drawing your blood. Here where I live, the hospitals charge $10.00 per draw. I would call the lab and ask them! They will be able to tell you exactly how much it would cost.. For the HCG test and the draw fee.
Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!
