Good luck! I am in the same situation that you are in. First baby was vaginal yet had a shoulder dystocia. Second baby emergency c-section due to a cord prolapse. And this time around I am scheduled for a c-section on the 9th of July cause doc. thinks I will have another shoulder dystocia. I am one of those that has been through just about everything. I think there are pros and cons against both but I want get into all of that. I personally just want a healthy baby out of it all and it depends on every ones individual situation. I went through a lot of pain with the first one. The doc. turned the epidural off in the middle of labor and I felt everything. She said I wasn't pushing effectively. I honestly said I would never put myself through that kind of pain again (I thought I was going into shock or something from the pain). I had a third degree laceration that had to heal and I actually woke up in the middle of the night with night terrors. It still took about 4 weeks before the stitches dissolved. The best thing was that I was up walking around within hours of the delivery and with our bedrooms being up stairs there is no way I could have walked up and down the stairs after a c-section. The C-section that I had was an emergency. I was very discouraged because everything I thought had been going fine and had dilated to 4 cm. The surgery was so easy and I didn't have to go through any pain during and I really didn't have any pain after, but I had horrible back pain after for some reason. I literally took pain meds. for 6 weeks straight. It was extremely hard bending down to pick up and take care of the baby and I couldn't hold my 2 yr. old. It was honestly worse afterwards because of all the other people I had to take care of and heal myself. I am going to try for a Vbac if all possible because now I have three kids and it would be so nice to walk out of the hospital instead of bent over. But if anything goes wrong then the c-section we go. Because no matter what, the baby has to come out one way or another. I can say that with the vaginal delivery though, I did have kind of a high that I could do this and it makes you have a lot of confidence. So good luck and I hope everything works out for the best and you have a healthy baby no matter what. Sorry so long. ↑ |
