Ever since my doctor checked my cervix earlier, its been bothering me. At first I thought it would go away after an hour or so but my appt was at 2 and it's 7 now. Is it normal for it to hurt that long after they check you? I just thought id get some input. There have been a couple times where I stopped in my tracks because it felt like someone was taking a knife to me lol.

werent u having pains down there before, in ur other post you mentioned it. cervical checks can cause you to contract and can irritate the muscles that why they start doing them at a certain point, 37 weeks.

well before it wasnt so painful, it was more of a baby's head pushing and aggrivating nerves or something, now its when I move the wrong way it hurts.

well i know after i get checked im not very comfortable down there for a bit, i dont pay attention to the pains though b.c i tend to have them everywhere. as long as you're not bleeding or anything ur fine. even though its normal to have a pink tint to your discharge after checks.

That's normal. Wait until you are in labour and they check it. It's excruticating. Some of the worst pain i have even been in.

they check u everyyyy week marti at 37 weeks and up lol the reason why it hurts soo much is that our cervixes are still way in the back yay

They've given me the option beginning at 36 weeks. So I had it done at 36 weeks and 39 weeks but not the two in between. My dr. office is good but you see a different provider everytime so you always get different info. Which sucks. I wish I could just see my doc all the damn time. Grrrr.

marti, where i go is like that too. i was wondering who delivers you when you go into labor? is it whoever is on duty at the time or what?

that sucks my doctor owns his own practice its only him

I have that too - I had an appt today and I've been sore all evening from it.

My doctor practices with one other doc, and they rotate being on call with 2 other doctors, so I'll have one of 4 deliver me. It should be my own though, unless I go into labor this weekend. If I don't, my doc is inducing me on Tues.

do you guys not have midwifes where you are? Doctors dont deliver babies here in new zealand anymore.. they arnt taught how to anymore.. thats what midwifes are for.

We have the option -- before I moved, I actually had a certified nurse/midwife who did my yearly exams. She practiced in an office with an OB/GYN, and patients just chose who they wanted as a primary caregiver. Where I am now, it's 2 OB/GYNs, but if I wanted a midwife instead of a doc, i would have started going to one when I got my new doc.

oh okay's.. well also in New Zealand ( yes i know sounds like i am bragging ) BUT every woman when they are pregnant get free health care.. and free dental care.. we don't pay for our midwifes or any doctors apointments.. the government does.

damn that would be nice - I think you get free dental in the UK when you are pregnant as well. Dental in Australia is shocking - there is free dental but the wait list os like 3-5 years. So everyone that can afford it pays. There is also free healthcare here - but you do not get to choose your doctor if you take it so I go private

yeh we get dental too but i was told i was only allowed a cleaning woo .. i need more than that, but im waiting til afterwards b.c the throwing up like 10 times a day for 30 something weeks, not so good on my teeth, i had one in the back completely break in half .. i didnt feel it though so i suppose thats good

When my OB did my internal he actually rupptured my hind waters which I didn't find out until the next day.

hind?

Name: roseywosey | Date: Apr 12th, 2007 6:01 AM
yeah, hind?

Name: rachtwins | Date: Apr 12th, 2007 10:33 AM
yeah hind waters,i'd never heard of that either. He did an internal at 39 weeks to see how my cervix was feeling it hurt so bad I bleed afterwards. Anyway the next day when I pick my son up my water squirted out, anyway everytime I did something that involved lifting my waters leaked. By that night I went into full on labour and was gushing water here there and everywhre very annoying. It was because he poked and prodded me and broke my hind waters which is up the back.

speaking of the cervix -- went for my 40 week appt today. The doc says I am 0cm dilated but damn she dug around up there for what seemed like FOREVER! It still feels sore. Dammit. Don't be so rough with a preggers girl people.
