I"ve been feeling the baby move very little latley. I'm worried somethings wrong. But, i've already been to the ER twice this pregnancy because I thought something was wrong and she was A OK. I am 36 weeks 2 days. I know decreased movement is normal, but how much should I feel her move? Or should I call my doc and ask?

Thanks girls :)

Try this excites.......drink a glass of oj or eat a candy bar and then count how many times you feel her move in an hour if you feel nothing call your ob, but it could still be nothing, but better to easr your mind.

it's normal for a baby to decrease in fetal movment at the very end...they run out of room. i wouldn't worry unless you just don't feel her move at all.

The instructions I've gotten from my doc is to do a kick count everyday after 28 weeks. She said to do it at night when babies tend to be more active. So each night when I lie down to go to bed, I start counting kicks. Once I get to 10 I stop. And at 36 weeks you should count kicks, rolls, squirms - any kind of movement that you know is baby. If you don't get to 10 with in one hour - my doc says to drink a glass of juice, lie on my left side, and count again. If I still don't get 10 within the next hour I'm supposed to call. That's just my doctor though - you might want to check with your doctor and ask what they recommend, that way you don't spend the money going in to the ER or office.

Good morning, you know that is what I am afraid of, not knowing when something is wrong or right. Since its my first pregnancy I have no clue what is coming, what would be normal or what would be something of concern.

I think this is a common concern -- I know I've had it too. My baby has been moving a lot less lately, too, and there have been times that I've started to get really scared. I know if I eat some candy that usually starts movements back up, so I have some candy and lay down and wait for it to kick in. Once I feel a little elbow or something, I feel better and can go on with my day :)

10 kicks within 2 hours from 28 weeks on. God! Don't you know anything :)

my goodness!!! If I counted the number of kicks I get in a day, I'd be counting aaaaalllll day long and I'd be up to about 2 million!! lol....i don't know what he's doing in there, but it feels like he's rearranging furniture or something!!

I freak out about this all of the time. I'm going on 39 weeks and the movements really have decreased. She/he is still rambunctious around 8 or 9 p.m. but the rest of the day ---- so much quieter than before and that'll worry me. One of my docs said the more active you are the more that lulls a baby in to sleep and since I am on the go go go alot during the day and then still powerwalking and chore mania at night, no wonder the baby isn't moving around until I am permanently sitting down :)

yes, thats what i would think-that the baby is running out of room.

My midwives told me at week 35 to start doing a kick count and make sure she kicked 10 times in an EIGHT hour period. I thought that sounded like a long time, but they said it again at the last appt. I don't have to worry yet because my little kiddo kicks about 10 times in a 5 minute period and does that several times a day, but it seems odd that so many other people and books say to get 10 kicks in an hour or 2 hours, not 8.

just bc the baby is running out of room does not mean that he/she should not be moving, even if its just them rolling, you should still feel them moving around in there, whether itbe a kick punch or movement, hiccups, something to let you know yes they're in there and fine.

every baby is different but if your worried I would just go to the ER and have it check out ..you never know and atleast it calms your nerves. I used work as a ER nurse and women would come in all the time because of lack of movement and we would check them...my babies moved maybe 4 or 5 times a day and not at all at night which worried me. Find out what a normal day is like and count the movement than maybe you have somewhere to go from
