Having membrains stripped has the reputation of bring labor on.. useually it's not right away but with in days. For me it never hurt at all. I had mine stripped though when I was in hospital, I wasn't in labor but was bleeding and it was on my due date. I was induced as well as having them strech my cervex to rush along the delivery.. but I doubt I would have went in labor that day with just the strip! good luck

I had mine done on a Friday morning. By noon I was cramping. Later that night irregular contractions started. I went to the hospital Sat afternoon and was 3cm and still having mild contractions. I went back to the hospital Sunday morning and was having stronger more regular contractions. They broke my water at noon and I was still 3cm at that point. Then immediately my contractions became stronger and even more frequent. My daughter was born at 5:11 that Sunday.

It really started things rolling for me right away, but still took time for the full effect. Good Luck!

well..when they checked my cervix at 38 weeks to see if i was dialated..i am almost positive my doc stripped my membranes as well because i felt his fingers doing quite a bit of uncomfortable moving around my cervix. it was painful, i had cramping and some spotting. my water broke at midnight the following day.
