so i went to the doctor today told him that by my last period i am 13 weeks so he says ok does a full check up and says i am only about 10 weeks but thats ok maybe i miss calculated. so he goes to listen for a heart beat and there wasnt one no where. i started crying cause that is my biggest fear i have already had 2 mc s and i dont think i could handle another one. so now i have to wait tell the 17th for my u/s so now im gonna be worrying has this happened to anyone else i am so scared. with my first 2 children we heard the heart beat at 9 weeks its just scary.

Dont fret as yet. Did he give you a referal to have a ultrasound?

My doctor couldnt pick up my babies fetal heartbeat on the doppler until 11 weeks and it took him a fair while to do it.
Fingers crossed for you ok xxx

I was the same Stacey, they could see it on the ultrasound but they didnt pick up the sound. And when they did it was so fast because he was moving around along with panic because he didnt like being poked and proded.
17th.......wow! what a wait, you would think they could move it up earlier for you so you didnt have to worry so much :(

Wow what a dickhead....i woulda slapped him in the face and then blamed it on hormones!

There isnt another doctor you could see, or go to a private ultrasound clinic and pay and have it done for yourself ?

It could just be your doctors fault.....whenever I go to my doctor and she goes to find the heartbeat she can't! the only way she can is when I show her where it is cuz we rented a fetal doppler and sat down and took like an hour to track her (our baby) down.....Id recommend renting one offline, you could order it next day shipping and sit down and slowly try to find the heartbeat and take your time....most doctors seem so hurried its like they don't take the time to thoroughly check...atleast mine...other than that I wouldnt worry because at 10 weeks for me it was really really hard to find her heartbeat....the doctor didnt get it till week 13...but I know from experience theres nothing I could say to make you not worry Ive been there.....best of luck and take care

I didn't hear the hearbeat till 14 weeks, so don't worry. Sometimes it allot later too.

I am confused by your question because I was recently told by my midwife that the best time to start hearing a babys heartbeat was around 16 weeks and not really before even though it can be seen on a u/s, so what is your doctor doing? Praying for you anyway that all will be ok but its not on that hes made you worry that much for so long

your doctor sounds off i am so very suprised you heard your first two kids heartbeats at 9 weeks usly they don't even try to listen for one till 12 weeks i am on my first and i found out i was pg at 5 weeks got my first doctors apointment at 12 weeks and they tried for the heartbeat and nothing she even said its to early and my freind and plenty of other pregnant women i know couldn't hear the heartbeat ethier it wasn't until week 16 sixteen that i got to hear it for the first time , you baby could be in a difficult postion , if your doctor has done a full work up and says your ten weeks then your probably ten weeks and its most likely to early to hear the heartbeat , so just wait for your us and try not to worry unless you get any of the obvious signs like severe cramping , bleeding slash spotting or your doctor seems overly worried don't stress thats the worse thing for the two of you.

My doc wouldn't even try to hear the heartbeat until I was 13 weeks---guess she didn't want me freaking either if we didn't hear it. I just hope you can do something quicker---can't believe your doc would just leave you hanging like that! Keep us updated and try not to stress too much!
