I'm 33 weeks and was wondering when did y'all start getting checked for dilation and effacement? It seems like all she's done every time I've gone there besides the 1st time and the day we got the u/s is, measure my fundal growth and listen to the heartbeat.

That is a good question, I think it is sometime around the last couple weeks. Mine has only been checking the heartbeat... makes me wonder why I even go sometimes. He will check things if I complain about something but not his own.

Every doctor is different so you should just ask next time you are there! My sister's doc doesn't check until the week that you are due, but mine started around 36 weeks.

my ob told me she starts checking during the weekly appointments. For example, you go in for your first weekly appt at 36 weeks, and that's when she checks you for dialation the first time.

Yeah that's how my appt. was like until 36 weeks now when I go she check my cervix so once you start to go once a week.

I'm 32 weeks and I get my fundal growth checked and heartbeat as well. I asked her how she was positioned and she told me that it was too early to check for that. I think that's how they do it at a lot of places though. Later on we should get the other stuff looked at.

At my next doctor's appt I will be 31 weeks and she told me that at that appt she is going to check me out and that I will need to start coming every 2 weeks thereafter to be checked for dilation and effacement. With my 1st I had a different doctor and I think he started checking me at 32 weeks also.

I wasn't checked unti the day before I was due, and that was only b/c they offered to strip my membranes to get things going and I took them up on it.
