well, i had my prenatal appt. today. i'll be 31 weeks on thurs. anyway, chloe is head down and seems to be very large (don't they tell all of us that nowadays?), so they want me to get another sonogram when i get 37 weeks, which will be 9/6. and my doc said since my son was 9 lbs., then all of my children will be large as well-if not larger! that scared the crap out of me! so, what this means is that i guess if chloe is a big weight by the time i get the sonogram at 37 weeks, then they will induce me and i will have her then instead of near my due date, which is 9/27. she will be fine, i'm sure. i guess he is trying to catch her before she gets too large to deliver and then i might need a c-section. (i hope i'm saying all this right) i do not know how many pounds she is right now b/c he said there's no point in that and to just wait for the sonogram. he just said she will be big again. and remember, i am already dilated 1cm and having contractions every day now. so, i guess we will have our little girl sooner than planned. i am very anxious for the 37 week sonogram.

anyone ever had this problem or similar situation? how did it turn out?

hola tasha, we're almost there girl!!!

im turned 29 weeks yesterday and had an appt. last friday. Arent they supposed to see u every 2 weeks after u turn 28 weeks?? They scheduled me for 4 weeks, when i will be 32 weeks and they will do an ultrasound that same day as well.

My son weighed 5 1/2 lbs and was born at 36 weeks. I forgot to ask though if it is likely that this baby will be born early and weight around the same amount.

Im surprised though that they're not doing an u/s on you around this time. With my son they did one at 33-34 weeks. I just hope you dont need a c-section...they suck. Im gonna have another one with this baby. they say the 2nd time around is not as bad as the first...hope they're right.

22lb.dang! my daughter only weighed 2 3/4 lb and I still tore... Can't imagine what that would be like! A friend of mines baby was born at 13lb and looked huge when compared to my foster daughter who weighed 4 1/2 lb.We compared them and it was really funny! lol

Girl I was told the exact same thing. I only gained about 15 lbs total and I was not even that big as far as showing, but I guess my fundal height was measuring large so they did several US in the weeks before Kendra was due. They told me that she was close to 9lbs. They also offered me an induction prior to my due date, but I said that I wanted to hold off. They said tha tthey would not be willing to let me go one day past my due date because they didn't want her getting any bigger as it was and odds are she would gain at least another half pound. Well I went into labor on my own a week prior to my due date and my little girl was only 6lbs 7oz! My fundal height was measuring big because she was very very high up and couldn't drop because the cord was around her neck twice. As for how they put that together with the ultrasounds and came up with her est. weight I have no idea. All I know is that they had me thinking that I was going to ahve a monster child and if I would have let them induce me god only knows how small she would have been.

hey ya'll. thats what i was thinking. i mean how do they know how big she is until i get the ultrasound? at least i'll get one before they think of inducing me and it won't be a mistake. i think he was more so going off the fact that my son was large.

no, i didn't see discovery health, but i believe you. :-)

hola vane! como esta mamita! why do u have to get another c-section? is it b/c once you have one, you have to have all your children that way? you're not having any problems are u? have you finally started buying stuff yet? i know you said you were holding off. are you getting a baby shower? i think my mom is planning one in secret. :-)

question, where is your daughter now? is she in the nnicu? how big is she now? you just had her, right?

Yeah, she is 16 days old now.She is in the NICU.She is now 15 1/2 inches and weighs 3 lb.So that is a step up from 14 1/2 inches and 2 3/4 lb. =)She is spending alot of time being awake, eps when I start talking to her,I love how responsive she is getting!

They are supposed to start seeing you every 2 weeks after 28wk.so I would ask them to reschedule your appt.I don't think we ever made it through a month without being seen,my whole pregnancy I think the longest was about 3 weeks, but mostly every week....lol

Tasha, a c-section doesnt necessarily mean you have to have all your kids that way, but most drs. wont try for a vaginal birth because it can cause complications. I guess i'll talk to my dr about it more throughly (sp?) at my next appointment. I have not yet bought much. Just 2 dresses and a pack of onesies. It's gonna be EXPENSIVE when i go and get everything at once. And no, i dont think im gonna have a shower. I thought that that was only for your first child. But hey...this IS our first girl...and i never really had a shower because my son was born early and the shower we were planning turned into a Welcome Party....so...maybe i should start dropping hints, huh?

Sal...i was surprised when she told me she'd see me in 4 weeks. I didnt say anything cause i wasnt completely sure...but now that u mention it, maybe i should call them and make sure there wasnt a mistake or anything. Thanks = )

I got my last Ultrasound at 37 weeks , and one 2 weeks before that one, because my fundal height was measuring too small, so they kept giving my ultrasounds saying i was gonna have a small baby. they siad he was gonna be like 6 pounds, but then i told them are you sure b/c i was 7.8 and my husband was 7.14 and they go....ohhh well, then you will have a 7 pound baby... WTF

any ways my last US he was 6.5 and when he was born he was 7.14

It seems like the doctors tell alot of people that they are going to have large babies. I am 33 weeks and we have been told that our baby is going to be very large. At an ultra sound at 22 weeks they said that he was in the 96% for his weight (50% is normal). We had another ultra sound at 31 weeks and he was still in the 89%. They told us at that point that he weighed 4 lbs 9oz. We had a check up today and our doctor was talking to us in length about a schedualed c-section. She was saying that she was nervous about shoulder distosia, because the baby is so big and I am a fairly small person. scary....has anyone heard of shoulder distosia?

I'm sorry...it's spelled Shoulder Dystocia.

at my 37 week ultrasound she was )or i was told she was...) 6lbs 14 oz but when she was born like 3-4 days later she was 7 lbs 14 oz...so it was off by a lb

i was watching TV today and this baby broke its collar bone on the way out so maybe thats what it is.. or it could be that his/her shoulders are too big to be vag delivered.

it's when the baby's shoulders get stuck in the mothers pelvic bone because the baby is too large. it is actually quite life threatening for the baby from what i've heard about it.
