Adopt? NO!!! Does she live near you? If so, then just allow her to keep the baby for you in her home, if not then get a power of attorney allowing her to seek medical attention for the child if you needs it... allowing her to take temporary guardianship of the baby. Otherwise, if you allow her to adopt that means she will be the parent and you will no longer have rights to your own child. It could get ugly if you ever try to get the child back.

yeah. that's what i was thinkin. but she has good benefits and a nice home. she can offer my child the best. and i live with her so my baby will always be around me. but i was talkin to my bf about this and i was tellin him that what if one day she gets really mad at me and tries to take my baby away from me? or does something to make me not see my child anymore? i dont want that to happen.

yeah exactly.... I wouldn't do that... look, I'm in the military and was a single mom for a long time before I met my husband... I had to go overseas twice.. once to Korea for a year and another time to Saudi Arabia for 4 months, both times I left my son in the care of my sister, who I only gave a power of attorney to. As far as her benifits, as a grandparent, she can claim your child as a benificiary or you can go through the state, they state always has free medical and dental benifits for kids as well as WIC, free or low cost child care (they can split the bill with you) based on your income, and food stamps... these things are helpful... I wish I qualified for some of them.. it would come in handy. Check your state to see what they offer and if you qualify.
