I ONLY GOT 6 WEEKS PAYED MATERNITY LEAVE FROM WORK. I GOT 4 WEEKS AT 98% AND 2 WEEKS AT 66%. THEY DID NOT PAY ME FOR THE 7TH WEEK. OUR STD COMPANY SAID THAT I WOULD NEED TO GET THE WHOLE RECORD OF MY PREGNANCY TO DETERMINE IF I NEED 1 MORE WEEK. WELL MY DR PUT 7 WEEKS ON THE SHORT TERM DISSABILITY FORM AND THEY DID NOT APROVE THE 7TH WEEK BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE ANY REASON TO TAKE THE 7T WEEK OFF. WELL BY LAW WELL I THOUGHT IT WAS BY LAW THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED 7-8 WEEKS FOR A C-SECTION AND A NATURAL BIRTH IS 6 WEEKS.

WELL THIS GIRL JUST CAME BACK FROM MATERNITY LEAVE AND HAD 8 WEEKS !!!PAYED!!!! BECAUSE HER DR PUT 8 WEEKS ON THE FORM AND SHE GOT IT NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THEY WERE ONLY GOING TO APROVE HER FOR 6 WEEKS AND SHE CALLED THE HR DEPARTMENT AND SAID HER DR PUT 8 WEEKS AND THEY CHANGED IT. I CALLED THE SAME DAMN PLACE AND THEY DIDNT CHANGE IT. I NEEDED MY WHOLE RECORD BEFORE THEY COULD APROVE IT.


I AM PIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSED.

SHOULD I CONTACT THEM AND TELL THEM THEY NEED TO APROVE THAT ONE WEEK AND PAY ME?

oh i complained to the hr department here and lied a little here is the letter i sent them.

I went to go and talk to my Dr. earlier this morning and he was asking me how I was doing and so on and so on. Well the conversation came up about my maternity leave pay. My Dr. filled out on the short term disability leave papers that I needed 7 weeks of maternity leave because of a “repeat” c-section. He was going to give me 8 weeks but I told him I only needed 7 weeks so that is what he gave me. Ok I have my baby and I get my short term disability papers in the mail and it says I only got approved for 6 weeks, so I called my Dr. and told him and he just told me to call my work and tell them that he put 7 weeks and that this is what I need and should get. Well I called you Lina and told you of my situation and you told me that if I needed the 7th week that I needed to get the complete record of my pregnancy so the short term disability could review it and decide if I need 7 weeks. I let my Dr. know that yall would not approve the 7th week and he said that he would give me a note stating I could not return to work till April 30,2007 and that’s all they should need to extend my benefits. So I turned in the note stating from my dr that I could not return till April 30,2007 and thought this was enough. Well I guess it didn’t get approved because I didn’t get paid for that 7th week. Well like I said in the beginning of this email we were talking about the maternity leave this morning and he asked me what ever came out of that and I told him they didn’t approve it and that they said they needed the complete record to determine if I got the paid leave or not. He stated to me that “He is the Dr. and he determines when I go back not the short term disability department and that I should get paid that week because he approved it and that’s that.” He also told me that my records are his records and that he does not give out records because his word should be enough to extend the 6 weeks to 7 weeks. Also a month ago I talked to someone (not saying any names) said she went on short term disability leave last year and her Dr. gave her 8 weeks and that Tetra only approved her 6 weeks and all she did was call yall and tell yall that her Dr. put 8 weeks on the Short term papers and all yall did was change it and approved it without her records. I do not think this is fair to me because my Dr. put 7 weeks and I only got paid 6 weeks. I also had a Dr’s note stating I couldn’t return until April 30,2007, until my 7 weeks post repeat c-section. I should get paid the 7th week of my maternity leave (approved by my Dr. from the beginning) because my Dr. is the only one that can release me not Short Term Disability. I feel as If I was cheated of my 7th week of maternity leave and was not treated fair.
