I have been noticing lately these really sharp pains on my right side kind of next to my hip bone. I only feel them at night when I am trying to turn over from one side to the other. They hurt SO bad I wake up and can barely move until it goes away. It only lasts a few seconds. Rarely more than 15. I guess you could say it's kind of like a muscle cramp, but a lot more painful. I have a fibroid, and I am wondering if it has anything to do with it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

call your hospital or doctor they would be able to tell you over the phone instead of having to go in what it may be and what you can do for it. maybe it's your hips expanding or something, I am not sure. how far along pregnant are you? my hips/lower back area ache at times and hurt but it's from my body preparing for the birth im assuming.

I had this pain too when turning from side to side... it was terrible! But like you said only lasted a few seconds! I think it is just part of your body changing!

I am 29 weeks. It worried me at first because I have heard that with fibroids sometimes you get really sharp pains and that could mean they are busting or popping (cant think of a better word at the moment). But apparently its a normal pain. A PAINFUL pain but a normal one

Well in your situation it may be better to call your doctor is for no other reason but re-assurance!

I dred calling my doctor because when I do they never answer the phone, and if I do get ahold of somebody I get put on hold for 10 minutes only for them to tell me the doctor will call me back which he/she (whoever it may be that day) never does. Thats why I ask so many questions here
I'm not too worried though because if it was the fibroid it would be a constant pain and not just at night wheN I turn over

if you can call ur local ER and ask them to speak to the maternity floor nurse. ive had to call them a couple of times b.c my doctors back in florida were twits. I am 31 weeks tomorrow and have that pain occasionally when i am trying to sleep but i roll around alot so perhaps thats why i dont notice anymore i just ignore it lol

how far along are you? they sound like growing pains, I still get them all the time , it the ligament stretching, now I get baby wieght pulling on my belly-which hurts like hell, and you can pull your muscle so easliy during pregnancy.
But do talk to your doctor, especially if you are having bleeding with the pain.

I had those types of pains too, probably around 14 weeks or so (I'm 28 now) and the docs just said it was ligament pain from stretching. I always think it's better to be safe than sorry though, even if you do feel stupid going into the docs for them to just tell you you're just stretching.. =)
