My daughter is going to be 7 months in 9 days ok so to the subject. We all go out on Sunday after church to Furs well Sadie always looks at our food and cries and tries to reach for it. So I give in and let her eat some of the maccaroni and cheese sauce which she loves by the way. Well then she sees me eat my fish and she starts moaning so I mince a little and let her try it and she gobbles it down and wants more. Next we eat mash patatoes which is cool I dont mind giving that to her but it seems like anything we all put in our mouths she moans and cries for it , then you look at her and she is following the food with her eyes going to our mouth. So by the end of the meal she has tried the following:

maccaroni and cheese sauce
minced fish, its a fried pattie
spinich
mash patatoes and brown gravy
mashed corn

She has got to the point where she will not eat baby food at all and just wants regular food. Alex's mom also feeds her enchalada sauce, veggies and pretty much anything she eats. I dont know what to do she wants everything and I feel bad for not letting her eat it.

Should I not be feeding her some of the foods? And if not how do I break her of it?

You can't feed seafood to a child until they're like 2 or 3. With the mac n cheese, I'd wait a little longer. Everything else is fine. It's not necessarily a bad habit that she's reaching for her food. Put her in her high chair while you're eating and put some steamed veggies on her tray. That'll keep her from putting her hands in your food and she gets to eat what you're eating.

You may want to stick to feeding her one new thing off your plate each week because just like with baby food they tell you to wait for 3 days to try a new one. If she has an allergic reaction to something you won't know what it was from with all the new things she tries each meal. Like Mallory said, don't give her seafood.

The corn is not ok!
It is highly allerginic, and having a corn means there will be little she can eat in life. Some fish is ok at 10-12 months, check out wholesomebabyfood.com

The other girls hit the nail on the head with the food.

But about her reaching for food, do you bring her own food with her? Feeding her all those things in such a short period of time I would think it’s not good for her tummy....i mean she's 6months...i don’t know...she's eating grown up food and she's not a grown up.

Bring her own food, feed her and that should be the end of her eating.

The mashed potatoes to me is no biggie, but the corn, mac and cheese, the fish especially is a def no-no.

But that's just my opinion.

Corn is not easily digested and can be allergenic... that being said though, corn maize is added to some babyfoods as a thickener so many babies being fed commercial babyfoods have had it.

Spinach is very high in nitrates. It is something babies should NOT have (along with carrots and beets) until they are AT LEAST 8 months old.

Macaroni and cheese is ok... I have made it for Kaden, but I make my own. I use low sodium cheese, whole wheat pasta and try to keep it as healthy as possible.

For the fish, I would stay away from anything battered or fried. Some fish is ok, but you want to find a wild pacific fish, or one low in mercury. If you have any history of white or shellfish allergies then you should not feed anything like that.
My son is almost 11 months old. He has had shrimp, salmon and sole. The shrimp were steamed in garlic, salmon baked with lemon and pepper and the sole was marinated in Cajun sauce and baked.

www.wholesomebabyfood.com is a great site to check which foods are safe for what ages... it also has tons of awesome recipes.

I truly believe that anything in moderation is fine. My son is 8 months and has had all of those foods that you have mentioned. He doesnt like the jar food either so he eats whatever it is im having for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Gerber also has the macaroni and cheese for babies if you were interested. Once she shows no allergic reaction to it you can feed it in small amounts.

girl honestly as long as you are not giving her foods that have common dangers or allergies like shell fish then you are ok. I wouldn't say it is good to feed "fatty" foots or high startch foods like mac and cheese often, because it sets bad food habits you want them to like veggies and fruits, but once in a while is fine.

I can say for my self that kendra wants everything that we have and it has made me really change our eating sryle, because I only want to give her healthy foods, with very few not so great things here and there. SO it is easy when I make dinner. If Kendra shouldn't be eating it because it does not have a high enough nutritional value, then neither should the rest of us.

Thanks for all of your responses. I went to The grocery store last night and got her avacadoes, mango,a apple crisp apple. broccoli, melon, carrots and sweet pees. Last night I mashed up half of a avacado with a drop of lemon in a plastic container and then freezed the rest and in another plastic container I put 2 carrots and 3 pieces of melon and 3 pieces of mango. I love the Gerber plastic travel containers for the baby foods, I dump out the baby food and fill them with fruits and veggies.

Thanks so much for the link again, I printed out tons or receipts and shared them with my husband and MIL. She now listens to me and respects my feelings.

Chicksy I have tried the mac and cheese baby food and she hates it, she knows the diffrence.

Again Thanks everyone, everyone has helped a bunch.

Well, I didn't know corn was such an issue---I let Kaden naw on a corn cob a couple weeks ago and he loved it. :) But he also has commerical baby food a few times a week, soooo.....
Good for you coart, that is something we let Kaden get started and now we are regretting it---EVERY time someone has food he thinks he needs a bite of it.....grrrrr.... :)

lending watch out w melons, wait a bit longer babies can react to those too. n im not too sure bout mangos n with carrots dont use the same wter to mix bc the high amount of nitrates.
