This may be utterly retarded... so feel free to laugh at me... I can take it.

But honestly, what do real contractions feel like? I had some braxton hicks about a week ago. Do normal contractions feel the same as the braxton hicks only more regular and increasing in strength? Or do real contractions feels different?

Right now I cramps that feel like I'm about to start my period (obviously not going to happen, but that's the only way to describe them) The braxton hicks that I experienced were a lot sharper and felt more like an overall tightening of my stomach, not like actual 'period starting' cramps. Hopefully that makes sense...

mel this may be TMI but for the first couple of hours that I had started labor with my son I felt like I neeed to take a big crap LOL My stomach was feeling crampy like I had to go #2 really really bad but couldn't. It took a while for the light bulb to go off in my head....duh maybe this is labor. I don't remember it being sharp at all. More dull and crampy...achey sort of.

I WAS ALWAYS WORRIED WHAT THEY FEEL LIKE ANDTHEM I HAD MY FIRST YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU GET THEM AT LEAST I DID THEY MAY BE IRREGULAR AT FIRST AND THEY MAY NOT HURT BAD BUT IF THEY ARE REAL THEY WILL GET CLOSER AND MORE PAINFUL. I NEVER HAD PERIOD CRAMPS TO KNOW WHETHER THEY COMPARE BUT I HAD BRAXTON HICKS AND REAL ONES AND I DEFINETLEY KNEW THEY DIFFERENCE I THINK ALOT OF IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON ON HOW BAD THEY ARE AND HOW THEY COMPARE

Thanks guys. Haha, I swear if I had experienced anything like this just a few weeks ago I would have thought nothing of it. Now that I am getting closer though, I seem to freak out about everything little movement and pain. I get weird cramps and think "Oh no, this better not be it, I'm at work/grocery store/church/driving/etc..." I'm just so freaked out knowing it could be anytime now (but probably won't be) that I'm fixated on every sensation! Ahhh... driving myself nuts!

I wish I could give you something other then what I find online but when I went into labor with my son I wasn't even aware that I was in labor. All I knew was that I didn't feel right and the only pain that I had was right after I went to the bathroom.

Braxton Hicks do not get closer together and usually only last about 30 seconds, the do not get stronger, they are usually only felt in the front, the do not last long, walking has no effect on the contraction, they may slow down or stop completely if you lay down, drink fluids or even take a shower. They can feel like menstrual cramping or even a brief tightening of the lower abdomen.

True Labor Contraction do continue to get closer together and stronger , they usually last about 60 seconds are are between 4 and 6 minutes apart, they tend to be felt all over, last alot longer and walking will actually make your contraction stronger, vaginal pressure or back pain accompanies contraction.

Okay... here's another question that I've been curious about... does the baby stop moving around once you go into labor? My little guy is still kicking up a freakin storm even though he has very little room to move around anymore. Will the kicking and rolling and moving around last all the way up until the end or do they stop moving once labor starts?

I am going to have to disagree. My Braxton Hicks contractions hurt much much worse then when I went into labor. I was unaware that I was in labor. After a morning of not feeling right and having some discomforted when finishing going to the bathroom I called my doctor. The nurse on the phone insisted on arguing with me telling me that I probably had a bladder infection which I knew I did not have. I sat on the phone with this nurse for like 20 minutes before I blew up at her. I finally told me to come in, the doctor checked me, looked at my husband and said, "How far apart are the contraction." My husband and I looked at each other and he said, "I don't know." The doctor was like, "Well are you not timing them." I said,"We're not timing anything because I am not feeling anything." Turned out I was having contraction every 3 minutes. I didn't actually have painful contraction until they broke my water.

You baby activity will most likely increase with a contraction then when you do not have one.

Gosh I am so ready for all this to be over and finally have the baby that I think I'm attempting to mentally put myself into labor. I know he'll come when he's ready and when the time is right, but I don't want to wait! I'm impatient today.

The last month or even couple of weeks of a pregnancy I think are the worse. I hated the last month with my son. I was uncomfortable, my ankles and hand were swollen, I couldn't sleep, I was just done. Thank heavens my little guy came on his due date because I think I would have gone insane otherwise.

I only have 9 weeks left with my second and I am already done being pregnant. I've been cramping for the last 2 1/2 weeks and not a single person can tell me as to why or even how to make them stop. When I think things are going great I try to do something and BAM cramping again. The hardest part for me right now is the fact that I am to take it easy and stay off of my feet as much as possible. Not so easy when you have a 2 1/2 year old running around the house like a mad man.

I think that Jeremiah was still kicking on his way out LOL. He had his eyes open and had his hand up to his head like " um ya I am gunna have to check this out before I make my exit" LOL He didn't stop moving or settle down at all. He came out and his lower lip was jsut pouting. He was pissed LOL. the pushing didn't take long and I was greatful for that. Infact the nurse was telling me that it was not time to push yet but I couldn't control it at all he was coming rather she liked it or not :)

I had a c-section with my son but yeah he too was kicking away when the doctor pulled him out. Ethan was pretty cramped in there so he was probably taking advantage of all this extra room that he now had.

I compared them to being hit by a very long train! Like Julie said...YOU WILL KNOW! Your stomach will be harder than ever and the cramping will feel unbearable! But yes kinda like braxton hicks only a lot worse.

I have had 2 kids. With my oldest I had no idea at first I was in labor. Of course I was 18 and he was 7 weks early. It felt like dull annoying pain in the same spot. I was worried but my body didn't make it clear that I was in labor. WIth my youngest I was induced and I knew it was happening in a split second. Felt like I had to go to the bathroom really bad and I was being yelled at by the Dr.. no less to BREATHE! hehe. I don't recall taking 1 deep breath or really breathing at all.

For anyone wondering Brycen will be 5 months on the 13th and I have been following your stories threw the months. Talk to ya'll later.

What happens if you go into labour before your c-section? Will they still do a c-section? Just curious.
