Okay so as many of you know, I no longer have a doctor. I am 12 weeks along, and still havent heard the heart beat. I called the local health dept for assistance, and i get told that I need to apply for medicaid, that was after being transferred around for nearly an hour. to be told something I already knew. BUT i cannot get medicaid b.c I cant provide certain documents they need.. so im screwed. I dont know if I really am 12 weeks along like ive been told, I dont even know if my kid is alive inside me, or if im just thinking it is. I have dreams that they found out the baby is dead, and it scares me. I cant afford to pay 300$ everytime to go to the doctor, especially just to hear the heartbeat, i know its important, but imagine having to pay 300$ to be told "you have a fever" well no shit lady im sweating balls and delusional. sorry Im a tad cranky. I woke up to deal with county idiots. I dont know what to do.

What type of documents do they need] I think that it is jsut birthcertificate and ss card and proof on income and residence maybe you can apply to get new ones if they are lost. I know here in ohio all you have to do is call the dpt of vital stats and the ss office and mail the payment for replacement and they will send you a copy if you don't live in ohio anymore. If you still live in the state you were born then you can just go to those offices and get a copy. If you are really worried go to the er I know that the bill will suck, but if you do end up being able to get mcaid then they will pay 3 months back. At least you will know that everything is ok. Also I changed jobs just before my husband and I were married so I didn't have ins for a few months. I made too much to get medicaid so I went to out local health clinic and they let me pay based on my income. I would call a local planned parenthood and see if you can go there or if they know a dr that will bill on a sliding scale. Also if you go to your local medicaid dpt they may be able to assist you in getting the info you need. Sorry it you have tried all of these things with no luck, but they are all that I can think of.

well see, my fiance, my husband in 22 days, is in the air force, i currently lost all my military benefits, but when we marry i get his, but i wont be able to use them until i move over seas in december. The documents i need are 3 months of my income, which i cannot get b.c the company and military will not provide them, its basically out of their fucking way. so i keep getting passed around in a circle being told i need medicaid, when medicaid basically told me, they couldnt help me. and you figure now, even with those documents, once the medicaid kicked in, i would already be on his insurance which is full coverage completely, and id be getting ready to move over seas. its complete bullshit and im so tired of it. its like do i seriously have to go in screaming at the er just to know my baby is alive and be charged a grand or more b.c these doctors are stingy assholes. im so tired of sitting here in tears not knowing what to do, i have so much to get done before i get married and i keep going back and forth with a bunch of idiots and im stressing the fuck out and all my fiance can say it'll be okay, calm down, its like screw you too, you're over seas, you have no idea what the fuck im going through and im tired of everyone in this house and my friends thinking they do, b.c they dont. I have to secretly cry in my house so i dont get a lecture. im so tired of all this.

i would try to get replacement documents or if you have something like a planned parent hood in your state call or go see them they should be able to help you or tell you who can.

Coartney what happened. I thought you had been seeing a Doc? At least go to the local Health Dept. They can not refuse you. The county crap sucks I know I deal with it. Like Jill said appply for whatever Documents you need. See a Doc because they can back date it up to 3 months.

tried them too, thats my normal gyno since i was 16, but I guess they can only do the pregnancy tests, they dont get involved with the obgyn stuff, so i have no ieda. and no the army will not provide the documents, Id have to put in a request which can take months. they stand true to their motto, hurry up and wait. im just so done. I dont believe in abortion for myself, but right now, this is just too much, i wanna throw in the towel.

Coartney I know how slow the government can be and your right it does suck alot. Don't give up. I would be worried that you can't get care until you are out of the country. I would jsut say fuck it and go to the er. I mean sure you are going to get a bill, but atleast you can be set at ease plus hospitals have programs that if you fall below some income guidelines then they will allow you to pay a very very small portion and write the rest of the bill off. This is a federal policy so they have to offer it in you area. the ER is not going to give you long term care, but they will prob at least give you and US and you can see that the baby is ok and hear the heart beat. Just go there and tell them that you are pregnant and having some cramping on the right side. They will do an US to be sure that it is not tubal. This will also tell you how far along you are. Maybe they can do the blood work needed while youare there too. also say that you are having some discharge and they will do a pelvic. this should take care of the usual screaning stuff until you are able to see a reg dr. I am not a big fan of being dishonest, but it really does not look like you have any other options. Good luck

Coartney, like Jill said, just go to the er. Say you've been cramping or make up some other excuse. I know it must be hell not knowing if the baby's ok, but you're 3 mths. now and definitely need to get checked out. Couldn't you pay to go to the dr. one more time? You'll be nearly 6 mths. by the time you moive to Turkey...GO TO THE ER!!! That way you'll feel better which will make everyone else feel better as well. Good luck!!!

I say scrue money right now! All is important is that you and the babies (for some reason I think you have got two) are ok!!! This country has a great medical insurance system if you are rich. If you are mid class or below then you are scrued!

Ya since you have been so very sick that usually means that your HCG levels are very high (not a bad thing) but could mean twins :) Go so we can all know that you are ok

Name: mommyagain | Date: Oct 9th, 2006 4:58 PM
I am not going to sit here and tell you it will all be ok or screw money just because I do understand I have been messing with the goverment and child support for the last 6 months I know what BS it is. This is what I would do if I was you....
Go online and look up the closest free clinic... like here in Rockford we have a place called Crusaders clinic they take anyone and base it on income. It is everything from normal family medicine to dental. Go online and see what you can find or even let me know where you are I cant remember exactly and I will search for you. Second... Go pay 10.00 for a bebe sounds heart monitor... you can tell the difference between yours and the babies because the babies will be super fast. Third I really dont think you have to worry about twins, most girls do get pretty sick with their first pregnancy.

well thank you everyone for your inputs. i am really thinking about the ER but at the same time, kind of eh b.c i hate being alone, and with as insane as i feel, ill probably lose my temper with the whole sitting there and waiting. and i have one of those bebe monitors, but i cant ever hear anything, except my stomach gurgling, sometimes i think i hear that galloping but then it goes away after a second, so i dont know :( but i got food now so im a llittle more calm.

the bebe monitor only works at like 20 weeks or later. I have a doppler the kind that they have at the dr office. It works really really well. you can rent them for 28.00 per month form www.heartbeatsathome.com

I might sound crazy but I really don't see the point in having to go to the dr.'s every 4 weeks, it drives me nuts! I can understand if your having some abnormality with the pregnancy but for me all I do is go in there and she pretty much says, ok looks like your alive your good to go, or else she yells at me for 5 minutes about how I shouldnt gain more than like 15 lbs. my whole pregnancy....I just think all these dr. visits are a waste of time....but thats just my opinion....

Name: Coartney | Date: Oct 10th, 2006 1:57 AM
well ur opinion is appreciated, since this is a public forum, but it has nothing to do with going every 4 weeks, it was how i havent gone and im 3 months.

Name: babey_g_311 | Date: Oct 10th, 2006 4:43 PM
well no i understand the need for a visit in that case, i was just venting my frustration over all the appt.'s that most dr.'s have everyone go to that they don't even do anything, it just makes them money, i understand the importance of hearing the heart beat and the u/s's and in the end of the pregnancy finding the position of the baby, etc. just all these appt.'s in between where it costs like almost $100 to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours than to see the dr. for like 5 mins. just so she can say yup looks like ur alive still pretty much.

Hi - I am so glad I live in Australia! The whole time I was pregnant with my first, i had a hospital appointment with the midwife every 3 weeks and all the blood test, US's etc and even giving birth and it never cost me a cent. I went thru our public health system here and they couldn't have been more nice or more obliging. Pity not all countries have it! I would hate to have to pay $300 just to make sure i am ok. A normal GP visit it about $46 but you get about $31 back thru Medicare.
Hope you find a doctor and that all is ok....

There are so many ways to go about seeing a Dr. For 1 there is planned parenthood.. for whatever reason they can't help you they can direct you to other places no including county hospitals/Doctors. I didn't see the Dr for the first time until I was nearly 4 months because my medicade took it's sweet time approving me. I went to "The Womens Clinic of Kansas City" and was taken care of there until I could get to a steady high risk doctor. They can get most of your normal STD screens ( you will be tested anyway ), HB and first ultrasound. Where there is a will there is a way. Good luck
