My little man, wakes me up every morning from 5:30 am tp 8:00 am till I get up and and eat something, and he does kick at night to,but I am too tired usually to be kept awake.
I hope its not like his sleep cycle to come.

My little guy does it too. I've noticed he takes little naps during the day and then plays around almost all night...lol. He does have his days however where he is sluggish but that only lasts about 2 days at the most and then hes right back at it ...LOL.

Becky - during the day, make sure you wake your baby every 3 hours. Don't let him sleep through feedings during the day. Keep the room fairly bright, and don't try to be too quiet. At night, keep the house quiet and the room dark. Don't turn on lights for his nighttime feedings, and don't play with him at night. Be very businesslike during his feedings. When he's awake during the day, play with him a lot and try to get him to stay awake a little bit longer each day. It's normal for a baby to be mixed up in the beginning, and most babies don't sleep through the night until they are couple of months old - longer if they are breastfed. My daughter started sleeping about 6-7 hours a night at 7 weeks. Hang in there, and make sure you sleep when baby sleeps, even if it's during the day.

Yeah - I saw that you guys assumed that, but I remember her posting not that long ago that she had just had a baby! And the baby's behavior in the womb is pretty similar to how they are outside.

My little girl is 13 days old. My mom is visitng unitl Jan. 1st and she's a total night owl...it seems as though Harper has turned into a night owl too...she still sleeps through the night, but wakes up much more often than in the beginning...she's zonked out right now and I should probably wake her up...she usually wakes up at 5:30 or so and wants to eat and play a little and then she'll go back to sleep until 9 and then till 12...I've been sleeping until 2 pm b/c she gets up so many times:(

Oh Kristy, I feel your pain. My mother-in-law spoiled my daughter rotten when she stayed with us for three weeks. I don't think she ever put her down, and it took a couple of weeks to get the baby to sleep in her cradle and not in someone's arms. This time we told my mom and Andy's mom that they can each stay for one week and that's it! We found it was easier to just be by ourselves after the first two weeks. How are you feeling?? How's breastfeeding going?

Becky20-
What you'll want to do is try to keep your little guy up as much as possible during the day until he starts changing his sleeping schedule. Good luck I remember having to do this with my son and it wasn't easy.

my boy had a regular routine. he'd kick around 7am, 2pm and 11pm. after he came out he didn't follow that schedule at all. and he was sleeping through the night by 2 months old. it's a whole new schedule the second they come out.
