maybe try drinking one a day. you dont have to totally cut yourself off. when they say drink 8 cups a day, its not really that much. take a regular sized glass and drink 4 of those a day. as long as you keep up with your water and vitamins, you should be ok... i drink soda all the time and all my test are fine. caffeine isnt bad, if you do it right. how far along are you? the further along you get, the more youll feel that need for water anyhow.. i feel so dehydrated these days. good luck.

Jess, I know they say that caffeine can be linked to lower birth weight and preterm labor. I drank caffeine during my pregnancy, my Dr. just told me to tone it down a little, but I drank iced tea too, and I was fine. (In fact, I had a large baby and went way past my due date...) Heather's right though, just take it in moderation, plus at the end you really crave water anyway.

Just because people drink caffeine and their babies come out fine doesn't mean that it's okay. I have done research though and read that you can have up to 300 miligrams a day. In one glass on Iced Tea there is about 100 miligrams!! Have you tried decaffeinated?? Just beware that there is caffeine in that too...about 8 miligrams. Also there's caffeine in chocolate, which includes chocolate milk and hot cocoa (which really disappoints me) I myself am not consuming any caffeine. And definately no sodas!! And to tell you the truth I am having the easiest pregnancy....I am only 12 weeks along so far though...
I take my prenatals and the folic acid and iron at night with a glass of orange juice.

The only thing about tea is that your not suppose to drink raspberry leaf tea. In the baby books it says it causes premature labor. I'm due for an induction on the 23rd of this month and I practically live off of soda. My doctor said that it's not bad but try to drink a lot of water. Some wives tales say that drinking soda and coffee and all that causes the baby to have A.D.D. but it's not true. Good luck.

I can't believe your doctor said that consuming caffeine was fine. What the hell do you need to live off of soda anyway whether your pregnant or not. Do something healthy for yourself and learn how to treat your body. Consuming caffeine speeds up your heartbeat which does the same for your baby.
There are other side affects also..which my doctor started to tell me but then we changed the subject since it didn't aply to me since I DONT consume caffeine!!

Jess.. I am a iced tea addict like you are.. and I asked my doc about a possible solution and he said absolutely I can do it... Decaffinated iced tea... It is the best invention for new mommies-to-be that can't live without our iced tea.. lipton makes the best decaffinated iced tea and the my doctor said that everything looked great at my last exam. but to be safe, just give your doctor a call and make sure it's fine with him/her and iced tea away =D

Okay, maybe I shouldn't be soo opionated (can't spell that sorry)
I just heard that caffeine wasn't good, trust me I do miss iced tea. That's all I used to drink. But for some reason I was able to give up all the bad stuff pretty easy. The one thing that gets me is in the grocery store. The coffee is on the same isle as the cereal and is smells soooo good. Oh well.
