First let me start by saying I have always had a crampy stomach due to intestinal stuff ( not to be too graphic but I get diarrhea really easily, just a chill will make me get diarrhea sometimes). For the last couple days i've noticed cramps in my stomach maybe 3-4 a day, but they werent asociated with diarrhea. They feel a loy similar to that kind of cramping, but a little different. I have wondered my whole pregnancy if I would be able to determine the difference between real contractions and stomach cramping (early real contractions). I guess my question is can you have just random real contractions? And if it's possible to explain exactly what they feel like, well... what do they feel like! The only thing i've been told is they're similar to menstral cramps. Im not worried or anything because they aren't continuous, I am just curious to know if thats what they could be or if it's just my tummy playing tricks on me. Thanks for your help!

well yeah you can have random contractions, they're called braxton hicks. and alot of things you read will say they are usually painless....but mine were 10 times more painful than the real thing. also my braxton hicks I had were more higher up in my belly and it felt like my stomach hardening and tightening.....my real contractions were more like menstrual cramps...but everyone feels them differently. some people's braxton hicks can feel just like their real contractions, so it's hard to say exactly what they feel like!

Mine with my first son felt like mentral cramps, only my stomach was as hard as a rock. Hope that helps!

I am pretty sure I can feel braxton hicks. The top portion of my stomach just gets kind of tight for a couple minutes, but they dont hurt. These other cramps are low, like mentrual cramps. I am pretty sure (but could be wrong) that they are something separate form bh contractions

Like I said im not worried. I guess im just anxious. I kind of want them to be real contractions because that means I am that much closer to getting to meet her!!

yeah i'm 36 weeks. So like I said i'm not worried. I mean if they ARE the real ones, they aren't close together whatsoever. And if they were, they wouldn't be stopped anyway- my doc said they dont stop labor after 35 weeks. It's just the thought of it being so close!! I get too excited about it sometimes.
