| when i went into labor i was just 1 cm dialted...and i was in labor for 18 hours. they were about to do a c-section and he decided he would make his entrance..lol. ↑ |
| it;s really not the dilation that will tell you how close your getting to delivery, it's how effaced you are, you can walk around dilated to 3 and 4 for weeks with nothing happening. Good luck at your appt. I'll keep my finhers crossed that you've made some progress ↑ |
| well with my second pg which was a schedule c-section at 35 weeks I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced...by 37 weeks I was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced and I didn't really feel any contractions ..on my 38 week I was 4cm dilated and fully effaced they took the baby due to medical problems both I and the baby had ..they would have taken her at 37 but they were wanting for lungs to develop because she was so very small but other than that my doc told me that I woul have gone into natural labor anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks --that was said at 37 weeks ↑ |

I can't be much help, as this is my first baby and I've been dilating for 2 weeks now -- I'm almost at 4, but still no signs of active labor. I have heard of a lot of women that weren't dilated at all go into labor and dilate very quickly. A friend of mine went to the hosp at 1 cm and her son was born later that day.
I have heard that inductions can result in c sections because of the chain of medical intervention...they give you the pitocin to start contractions, and it makes them more intense, so then you get the epidural either sooner than you would have, and that can slow labor, and then when you've been in labor too long, or because of the effects of all the drugs, they determine the baby needs to be born so they do a c-sec. I think it depends on what they do to induce you...my doc is talking about breaking my water next week if I haven't had the baby by then, so no drugs to begin with, but I'm afraid I'll still end up needing the drugs to get things going. ↑ |

| Yeh I am of no help but have been wondering the same thing. I am 39 weeks tomorrow. Up until now, nothing has been happening - no contractions, dilation, nada. I see the doc today so they'll check the ole cervix adn we'll see. I do know my friend walked around 3cm dilated for several weeks and her baby was still over a week late :) ↑ |
| Went to the doctor and teh doctor said...No dilation. No effacement. Baby is still 1.5 weeks behind. She also guessed baby would be no more than 7 pounds. I said -- yeh but you don't know....I tell them that every week :) ↑ |
| so i thought id let everyone know i went to the doctors today around 5ish && she told me im FINALLY 1 cm. dilated && she said ive thinned out alot more so she decided to strip my membranes && didnt tell me she was doing it.. so i wasnt prepared for it.. && it hurt sooo bad! At first she just went up and tried stretching out my cervix more && then she started moving her hand back and forth.. i thought i was gunna cry lol it hurt really bad (: But she went ahead && scheduled me for my induction date on Tuesday @ 7:30am. but hopefully being she did all of that today he'llc ome this weekend && i wont have to be induced (: we'll see though. just thought id update everyone! ↑ |
