ive wondered the same thing actually. you've seen ive gotten pretty big but my belly button hasnt had any pressure put on it at all. i actually know someone that went throughout their whole pregnancy with it in and fine. she still has it pierced :)

but i also know someone that had no pressure on their belly button and one day the baby kicked at the right spot and BAM the ring was pushed out completely. sux for her lol

i had my belly ring in through entire pregnancy and labor and only took it out for c section (nurse made me). put it back in a wk or two later. just ask your dr what he/she thinks. mine said it was up to me, but that the ring could be uncomfortable, get snagged on things as my belly started to protrude or could get irritated, but i kept it in wth no problems.

oh ok i'll ask my doc and see what she thinks. hope i can keep it in!

I have my naval pierced as well and plan to keep it in until I start to get a big bigger. Than, just to avoid any problems, I'll take it out until the baby is born. But then it's going right back in cause I love it!

hey, im 19yr.s and 7 1/2 months pregnant ive had my belly periced for about 5yrs now and i havent had to take it out yet but it does hurt sometimes because the skin is so tight so i leave it out for a month or so but it has not closed up at all.

there have been alot of women with their belly buttons still peirced. but i dont think that they leave it in the whole time. they probably just make sure it doesnt close and put it on for pictures or something. I had mine peirced but i took it out. i just kind of find it odd that your baby gets all of his nutrient/ and EVERYTHING through the bellybutton, so id rather there not be a hole there.

HAVE U GOT A INNY BELLY BUTTON

Name: Allyson | Date: Jan 17th, 2006 9:21 PM
yes i have an inny lol

My advice is if you dont have to, don't. I have taken mine out, I have an inny too ladies, and there is a red mark now at the top hole. I have been told that will turn into a dirty great big stretchmark so I am not happy about it at all and think I should have left it in.

to anne-marie my best friend had her belly button pierced on the bottom and she took hers out and she has the biggest stretch mark from it. i am leaving mine in till i HAVE to take it out

I'm 17 weeks and took mine out last week. I'm going to leave it out which sucks because I miss it already but my belly button is going quickly from an inny to an outy.

i was told you can leave it in just get a longer skinnier bar to it wont stretch as much!

i took mine out when i was 7 months pregnant because my belly button popped out and it was really uncomfortable, after i had my son i never got it back in and it has left a mark too. i dont think it can do any damage though it is down to personal choice. i loved having mine done but it does not bother me at all now- too many stretch marks to show off rather than a belly bar!!

Thanks for that bit of info. However, I took mine out because it was beginning to get tight and uncomfortable.

I've been a body piercer for a little 3 years now and I've had a lot of preggo women ask me the same question... yes the longer you leave the piercing in, the more of a chance you'll get a mark from it..whether it be a stretch mark, a dark ugly scar, and what not.... if you're worried about "damaging" the goods.. then its best to take out the piercing as soon as possible.. if it heals up.. it heals up.. no one ever said it can't be repierced... just make sure that if it does heal there is NO scar tissue.. but the scar tissue will disappear in a matter of weeks to a couple months..

also if you leave the piercing in for the entire pregnancy, you're gonna run the risk of "popping' the piercing... in other words.. with pressure and stress that the baby is putting on the wound/piercing it will gradually push the piercing through the skin, causing it to migrate... a migrated peircing isnt anything fun to deal with.. and some peircings may tear... I always tell all my clients..it's better to be safe than sorry, and always get your doctors opinion...

i was going through the samething i wanted to keep my ring in. But i began to get tight and it hade to takeit out. peoplekeepon asking me when i was going to takeit out. peoplethought it started to look really bad. But even if it did i wanted to keep it in. I had an inny before and after my 6th month it went to being an outy. When i had a doc. he said that it was up to the mom to takeit out. I took it out around my 6th month. I still put it in at times to make shur that it has not closed.

Well I don't know I have my belly pierced and then I got pregnant and then I took it off. Now my belly ring looks stretched out. Im sad but i thinking of piercing it again because it closed.

Rebecca... you can definately put the jewlery through the piercing just to make sure it's still opened..just remember to sterilize the jewlery in a anti-bacterial soap and warm water solution for about 15 mins to prevent any chance of infection.. ;-)

Tita... if and when you decide to have your piercing redone, make sure there is no scar tissue in the piercing area.. it is extremely important there isnt any other wise your piercing my migrate and move (within the skin) and look weird.. but check with your piercer first to make sure there will be no problems...

I went a whole 9 months wearing a belly button ring. It was hot! I only gained 10lbs and i never got a stomach that poked out so i could easily wear one

I have a question is it okay if I only use bactine to clean my new pbelly piercing and use dove when Im taking a shower??

Name: Allyson | Date: Jan 25th, 2006 4:06 AM
its ok to use the dove. the guy who piecred mine told me to get this salt water salution(sp?) and put it in like the lid to mouth wash and put it right over the belly button for a few seconds the do the same with water and twist is and it will heal nice!

I had mine in until my belly button got infected. My friend said she left hers in her whole pregnancy but it looks funny now. So I'd take it out and get it pierced again later.

antoinette (thats my middle name too)
when you clean your piercing i recommend using an anti-bacterial soap like Dial.. the walmart version called equate is equally good but not as expensive.. also what you can do in between cleanings is using a product called H2Ocean rather than bactine or bacitracin cuz that stuff is messy.... H2Ocean is purified ocean salt water in a spray bottle... it pretty much helps promote faster healing time...helps remove dried discharge n secreations as well as help reduce scar tissue while increasing the blood flow to the piercing (for healing) Here is the website so you can search to see which tattoo/piercing places carries it in your area.. http://www.h2ocean.com/ I have recommended it to all of my clients in the past and will continue to do so..

Hey I just turned 15wks today and went in for my u/s today. My mw told me that my belly button ring is ok as long as it doesn't bother me or get infected throughout the pregnancy. So........ I'm really hoping it doesn't bother me (as I don't know how to take it out...lol). I got it in Feb 05 as and engagement present from my SIL, and I have never had to take it out before. So I hope that I don't have to!! Lol

To Nora: ; ) I like your name and I just came across the name Sonora and I just might name my little girl that. And her nickname would be Nora ; ) just thought I'd let you know.

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I took my belly ring out. I'm 26 and have had it pierced since I was 18!! But I like the way my slightly round belly feels without it. It soo different feeling now since I had it in for so long. I won't miss it.

I have the bottom navel piercing. I got it July 4th of 2004. I got pregnant in Dec. 2005. Should I still consider removing my piercing even though it's on the bottom(because of my outtie) and not the top of the navel(most common piercing)?

i have mine done both top and bottom i also have an innie and i recommend instead of a regular metal banana bar get a ptfe bar it's a flexible plastic or a fishline it works it curves with your belly and it doesn't irratate the belly button once it pops
