Okay, so here's a really vague question about nursing bras because I have no knowledge about them whatsoever and would like any information or advice from those in the know... you guys. I need to go buy nursing bras, but I have no clue what to buy or what to look for or what will work the best. Does anybody have any advice to give to somebody who knows nothing?

sorry hun no help here. I have no clue, but I do know that after my son was born and the milk came in my boobs got huge!! You might want to buy a couple that are one size larger???

Your breasts can increase by up to two sizes larger when your milk comes in, so buy ones that will be big enough.

You might also want to buy some nursing sleep bras for nightime as well - especially if you're quite large-chested to begin with - breasts can become quite uncomfortable when you're breastfeeding and you'll probably want to wear a bra 24 hours a day.

Other than that, nursing bras are all pretty much the same.

They all pretty much work the same. They unhook from the shoulders strap to reveal the breast, which makes it possible to nurse without stripping down. At home I actually found it easier to wear those stretchy tanks with the built in bras and just pull one strap down, but that's in the privacy of home, in public you'll want to wear a nursing bra. I bought all of mine at the Motherhood store. They were very helpful, and I ended up buying mine a size bigger than I was at the end of my pregnancy.

I recommend you buy one that's comfy and really strechy that unlatches really easy...also nursing tops are a good idea too for when your out someplace and will need to nurse. you can get the tops that unzip at the boobs, or rhe kind that are double layered so you just pull the first layer down a little and it's easy access. just check out you local materity store.. I only know what Thyme maternity has because I work there...lol.. We do have a motherhood too, but I get 50% off at Thyme.LOL

Whoa... so I went from a small B pre-pregnancy to a full D midway through the pregnancy and y'all are saying that these things will probably get even bigger?!? That's huge - for me at least! Lol. There is a motherhood store just a few minutes away from where we live, so I'm thinking that I'll go there Saturday morning and see what kind of help they can give me. But it's looking like I should probably buy a DD?

Talk to them and see. I don't know how much bigger you could get LOL I have gotten a little bigger, but I can still wear my same bras. I know that with my son I didn't grow until after he was born, but then I was running into things with them.

If you get a good strechy bra at a maternity store then it should be able to strech one bra size, so I would stick with a D cup.

I was a full C pre preg. and had to buy size E!! I didn't even know there was such a size!! I think they let you try them on at the store, but you can't return them. They are very stretchy, like Julie said, and actually pretty comfy too.

Julie - where do you live? I never heard of Thyme.

Stretchy is definitely good to hear. I am so fed up with my bras right now. They are the most uncomfortable things in the world! I bought them at Victoria Secret about mid pregnancy once I thought I was fully grown, but I managed to get another inch or two bigger in the past month and with my belly growing too they are now so freaking uncomfortable! I look forward to the stretchiness.

When I was pregnant with my son I was already a size 34 EE (I know it is huge) after he was born I got even bigger. I didn't nurse him so I was able to wear 3 sports bras. I couldn't even find a bra in my new outragious size LOL. I had a breast reduction since then so I am only a full c right now.

Jill W - I had a breast reduction when I was 18 (I'm 30 now). Are you happy with the results? It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
