So my husband and I are now officially trying for our second child this month. I just wanted to share with someone! Our Gabriella is 13 months now, and we'd like to have them around two years apart. Wish me luck! A lot of you probably don't know me, but I frequented the site with my first pregnancy and still visit off and on. I'm still nursing also, and I always check the b/f forum, but not much goes on in there...lol

Hi Lindsay! Good luck! I hope you get your positive result very soon! Would you like a boy this time?

Congrats on still nursing your daughter! I have an 8-week-old son who I'm partially nursing.

A boy would be nice, but on the otherhand I have sooo much girl stuff. Either way I'll be happy. I think my husband is hoping for a little boy this time, though. But I know he'd be just as happy with another girl, he's so good with Gabbie. Thanks for the support Briseis! And congrats on nursing you're son too! I think it's so great for your baby even if it's only part of the time or for a short period of time. It's so good for your baby, and you!

well good luck lindsay! i have a 3 1/2 yr old girl, 2 1/2 yr old girl, and a 2month old son...we had also wanted to have our kids close together. i know what you mean about having all of the girl stuff....when we found out i was pregnant with our second we were hoping for a boy but turned out it was a girl....well now i would never have had it any other way! the girls have been best friends from day one and it works out great because emma wears clothes one season and then gracie wears then the next year....so we spend less money on clothes on and baby gear!

oh and i was just wondering...i know that some people use breastfeeding as birth control....so does it make it harder to conceive if you're still breastfeeding?

hi lacirrom - Breastfeeding can act as birth control b/c it can hold back the return of your normal menstrual cycle. I myself, however, had my periods return after 9 months of nursing, so I'm hoping that I am indeed ovulating normally. When I spoke to my doctor, she said that as long as I'm having periods I should be ovulating. Luckily, my cycles have been regular since returning (exactly 30 days), so I've looked up ovulation calendars and have been checking my cervical mucous and this week is supposed to be the right time. But, I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Now I have to wait a couple weeks and see if my period comes...

just to throw this out there.. you do indeed ovulate when breastfeeding even if you dont bleed. common mis conception and alot of people get pregnant.

Well I just thought I'd let you all know that it didn't happen this month for me. I got my period today, two days early at that! Which tick me off b/c for months prior to this my cycle was a perfect 30 days that I could count on. This just makes it harder to plan for when I'm ovulating. Oh well, there's always next month I guess!
