I've never heard that confidence causes postpartum depression. I guess the only downfall to being over-confident is that you may not realize how hard being a first time parent can be, and you may be disappointed that things aren't exactly easy. I don't see anything wrong with confidence as long as you're realistic. I think it's great that you already realize that you'd do anything for your daughter. That's a good sign :)

Some things you can do to prevent from getting too stressed after your baby arrives are get plenty of rest, take time for yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help, and be healthy. Also, if you do have any negative feelings towards your baby, don't be afraid to tell your doctor or a trusted individual. A large percentage of women experience some form of depression at some point after the birth of their infant.

It seems to me that you'll do fine. Keep your chin up, and best of luck with your baby girl :)

I never heard anything like that.. Maybe someone means that if your expecting it to be a piece of cake having a newborn and then your let down when you realize it isn't can throw you into depression? Not at all saying that is your case but maybe that is how one thinks? Amy you sound like you are excited, don't allow anyone to take that away from you! But keep in mind depression comes to alot of people with no cause. It isn't there fault at times. So just hang in there and enjoy your baby girl :)
