okay well cadence is a month old now and i've been pumping and bottle feeding her. I've stored up enough milk to make it to almost 3 months so I want to stop pumping now. The problem is when I get to about 6 hours my boobs are engorged again and I HAVE to pump or else i'm in pain. Then I pump 4 4oz bottles and i'm good again....but I don't want my boobs to be producing anymore milk. gah. so i'm just wondering how you all handled this problem...if any if you have...

Breast Milk Can Help Save Premature and Critically-Ill Babies Like This One

Become a Breast Milk Donor

You have chosen to give your babies the very best, your own breast milk. However, mothers of many critically ill and premature babies can't supply the breast milk their babies need, and due to lack of adequate supplies of breast milk, these babies must be fed formula substitutes. For premature and critically ill babies, breast milk can help make the difference for the baby's health, their best nutrition, and even their survival. Those that need breast milk the most are not getting it. You can help. Become a Breast Milk Donor.

but i am guessing that if your baby was born premature and critically ill and you didnt have a breast milk supply you would decline this. breast milk is the best compared to formula when they are premature.

it also helps babies that are put up for adoption or ones that are abandond at birth.

you really think about it this is a wonderfull idea and not a ewww idea....

y dont my breasts work??

Name: mizzescalante | Date: May 21st, 2007 6:48 PM
some women can not produce so what if you couldnt produce. i know when i gave birth i wasnt squirting out breastmilk i had to pump and feed. these babies can not suck and then how are your breast to know how much your baby can drink. they always say pumping will not increase your supply your babies sucking will.

but if you are overflowing with bm when your child is born then thats your choice not everyone is the same. if my child was in this situation and i couldnt produce enough for her and i would do it for her. its helping your child.

she just said she saved up milk for cadence but she wants her supply to go away, why would she continue pumping and not give it to her own child?

i know coartney i know how to read i just thought that mabye she would change her mind and help someone elses baby since she is able to do so. i wish i could store milk like that but i couldnt even make a 4oz bottle and that was with her sucking and pumping.

i just quit cold turkey. worst two days of my life, but seriously, after two days, you feel so much better. i put cold washcloths on both my breasts to ease the fiery heat that would radiate from them. Also, I slept sitting up so that the pressure of laying down wouldn't hurt more. the first day/night is the worst.

shoot yea that formula is expensive i remember i bought 10 the first time i went to the store so i didnt have to go back for a while and spent $130.00 on the powder formula. i went to target and they have the big containers for $13.99 and i got it. its like two small cans for the price of one but i noticed that xylea pooped 2 times in one day with it. not sure if it had anything to do with it but the formula was cheaper. it looked a little yellow but the formula was a target brand and not enfamil. well all in all we went and got 9 yesterday and spent $112.00 and i hope i dont have to go back for a while. but we are keeping the target brand formula just in case.

I was going to refer you to a post in the breastfeeding crowd...and I went back to see what the title was, and it was one you had posted -- my suggestion would be to follow the advice mamal gave you over there

This may sound totally odd and bizzarre but it works to dry up milk naturally.
Buy a head of green cabbage and put it in your fridge so that it stays cold. Then tear off leaves one at a time so they are still cup/boob shaped and crack as many of the viens in a leaf (it releases something that help dries milk up pronto) put the crumpled leaves in your bra which sounds gross but really feels good cause they are cold and ease the pain of full breast.
Anyway--I did this to dry up with two fdifferent kids and it worked in a matter of days!
Give it a try--cheap and easy!!

oh, and replace often or when you feel like you'de like new cold leaves--SERIOUSLY--works in days!! AWESOME!

Milk will dry up within a couple of days if you slather them with Campho Phenique about four times a day. It's the camphor that does it. It's a good time of year to have it on hand for bug bites anyway, so you won't be wasting what's left. LOL I've heard of the cabbage thing. It's old timey, but this actually works much faster.
