Hey,
I have a driving problem can anyone help me? When I am driving I tend to forget which side of the road I am suppose to be on.... I know you stay on the right side but most of the time that does not help... is there anything I can buy to help me? I have tried everything to sticky notes to writing on the web of my hands. First - get him full testing!
Your school board head's should be able to recomend a pshycoligist who can do this.
(keep in mind testing before 6th grad is hit or miss, younger then that and it's hard to tell which kind of dislexia your son may have.)
2. Once you know what kind of dislexa your son has, you can come up with ways to help.
Every type is just a little difrint, so are the solution's.
His problem may be based in not being able to proccesing sound or visual infermation.
Find a way for him to hear or see that works.
Or he may have problems remebering things, become distracted quickly.
Whatever his problem he is going to most likly need tutering in one or more subject. I recamend silven learning center's.
3. Get your son a computer, laptop, and any other gadget you can aford that will help him.
I recomend Alpah Smat products.
(Keybord's with built in memory and spellcheck. cheeper then a labtop)
Also you may want to invest in some kind of audio recorder. This way your son dosnt have to worry about takeing notes or forgetting things.
4. Most important - your son is no difrant from any other "normal" child. He just looks at the world in a difrant way then others. It is important that you dont treat him with kid gloves. His life is going to provide it's own set of chalenges for him alone. Thing's that come quickly to other will take him more time, and the dislexia will make it hard for him to expresive himself. He is up for a life of small frustrations one after the other. There will be times when you will simpley not be able to help him. All you can do is be his coach, his mom, his cheerleader. It's your job to never let him stop trying!
5. He can suceed] I was diegnosed with dislexia at a young age. I was told that getting through highschool would "be a merical". I now have and A.S., B.A., and am in school now working on my masters dagree. I did it and your son can to! Dont let anyone tell him diffrant! ↑ |

I am Dislexic, in australia there is a program called the Cellfield program its basically on the computer and its seven days of sounding out words while other shapes and colours help your brain. i have found that what really helps me is larger font and double spacing in between the words. ↑ |

im 14years old and in year 10 at school.. i have dyslexia. i find a lot og things hard.. like spelling .. reading and my memory isnt very good either. i would like to be some sort of teacher when im older.. do you think havin dyslexia could make this harder for me.? i all ready struggle at school.. and because of that i reli dont like school. i didnt reli realise how common dyslexia was until i found this chat room thingy.

i have dyslexia and i went to a place called kumon try him up for that and all they do is make him do little exercises to make his brain more familiar with reading and sums and that kind of stuff

I have i'm 36 and they (school ) found that I had is in K and I suggle thought school but that was years ago. I go to college and will be working to get my BA in human sivece. Read and be very active. My Mom was not and now I have to fight for every thing I need. But I have found new ways to learn thing . I have anote taker, do report on tape, There is acomputer that scan my books and then reads it to me. I have dragen speacking that writes what I say. There are many ways to help get where you need to go. And maybe some day inst of college lrean atrade. Look up all the famom people out there who has it . Rabin Willams . pppring your son is best.
