My son likes those a little too much in my opinion. I know they aren't illegal or anything like that but I still worry about how much is too much and if they can hurt him.Also,my brotther came by last night and gave my son a scoop of this one stuff,(I forgot the name),anyway,it is in a red container and is promoted by the wrestler Triple X. My brother got it from GNC,(the health store),and my son took it this morning before school and I was like UUUUHHHHH! when I discovered he had taken it so all day I've been like ,"I hope my son's o.k.!" Because I don't know what that crap does to you! I know it speeds up your heartrate! I'm kinda mad at my brother for giving it to him but then again I don't know what to think because it's not anything illegal. Do youn have a teen with the same interest in energy drinks? How do you feel about it?

I drunk 2 bottles of some energry drink ona really hot day and then got a nose bleed. 4 hours later still bleeding went to the er and got told that energy drinks make your blood pressure high.

yeah well get himto try protien drinks I am really small and I eat till I am full at every meal but i am still petite (it is also my build) so in between meals or for energy I drink protien drinks they taste good and have vitamins and stuff in them and some are all natural. So if he feels he needs more energy of is always feeling tired have hime take vitamins or just wants something to drink besides juice water or milk this is a great option. Lizzy heck for get the teen! I drink them every day probably about 4 a day. They do give you a bit of a high energy feeling if your not usto them. Some of the kids will drink the energy drinks with other over the counter pills to get a high. I drink them for the extra boost they give me, If I am going to work out I will not drink as many because they do get your hart racing. I dont need a hart attack! I really like myself dont need to die just yet!

my daughter drinks them only the sugar free kind, I am not sure how much is too much. She may have one or two every week

I don't want you to die either lindalu! :) One week-end my sons friends mother brought home a whole bunch of energy drinks and let the kids drink several cans each! I couldn't believe it when my son told me that,she is a nurse even!

I dont think some parents realize what they can do. I drink the Rock Star sugar free they have about 2000 mg of Torine, Torine is the main ingrediant. It is a herbal ingrediant that causes you to shake and haveyour hart race if you consume to much. I however have become amune to the damb thing I reciently had to change to another brand that included cafein and ginsing as well as torine.

Hi Lizzi , im 19 i have stopped dinking energy drinks now but used to drink atleast 5 x 250ml cans a day it was a diet version.

I just loved the taste but i did feel adicted to them, cost me a fortune aswell but i gradually cut down on them then gave up!

i tried an energy drink once and i got such a horrible headache...i agree try getting him into protein drink...if you tell him he can't have them he will just sneak them...

Physiological effects

There are numerous physiological effects associated with consumption of highly caffeinated energy drink products, namely, but not limited to, increased heart rate and blood pressure, hyperactivity, anxiety, headaches, insomnia, dehydration (caffeine is a diuretic), irritability, and the potential for addiction/withdrawal. Also, energy drinks, when combined with alcohol (See “energy malternatives.”), pose the very real problem of masking, not neutralizing, the physical effects of intoxication. 3. What are the possible effects on health from the amount of caffeine in these drinks?

The caffeine level in most of these drinks is only equivalent to that in coffee, because many typical consumers are young--and quite high levels of consumption are common--there is at least the potential for health risks associated with energy drinks.

Many parents would not allow their young children to drink coffee or strong tea--because they know that these drinks contain caffeine-the same may not apply to energy drinks. For example, an Australian survey found that 27% of boys aged 8-12 had consumed high-caffeine energy drinks in the two-week period prior to the survey.

This may be at least partly because the quantity of caffeine isn't always stated on the label of energy drinks, and many people aren't aware of how much caffeine constitutes 'high-caffeine' anyway. Parents, guardians and other people in positions of responsibility (e.g. sports coaches) should be aware that young children could have disturbed sleeping patterns, suffer bed-wetting and show symptoms of anxiety from ingesting the caffeine in just one can of energy drink. It is clear that pre teens should not consume high caffeine drinks and it is highly desirable to discourage their use by people in their early teens.

Some people are especially sensitive to caffeine, showing symptoms of caffeine sensitivity (tremors, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal upsets) following consumption of relatively small doses of caffeine. Those who suffer these adverse reactions to caffeine-containing drinks such as coffee should not consume energy drinks. People with heart disease should avoid
large intakes of caffeine. The sudden 'jolt' to metabolism caused by caffeine (which is a stimulant) can be enough to trigger a heart attack in people with pre-existing heart conditions. Pregnant women are also well advised to avoid high-caffeine beverages. During the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy, consuming as little as 100 mg of caffeine per day was associated with an increased risk of spontaneous abortion in studies conducted in Sweden.

Finally, these drinks are sometimes consumed in conjunction with alcoholic beverages. Even on their own, high-caffeine drinks will cause 'diuresis' (increased urine production). The combined effect of alcohol and caffeine will be to dehydrate people to an even greater extent than occurs with either caffeine or alcohol alone. The facts are all over the internet. But the downfall of the drink is the after effects. My son has a heart murmur and was drinking these drinks so you can imagine what an extreme heart rate when mixed with athletics can do to him. And yet he still wants to drink them. Until we say a physician that explained to him what the possible outcome could be with his medical condition. I also read something on these about kids drinking them all day. How insane. As far as the protein shake thing, my son is 15 and a freshman in high school. Loves football. He did make the freshman team but this summer while working out in the gym with the coaches they were concerned because he only weighs approximately 115 pounds. Funny that their are consequences for kids that are skinny. His motabolism is high. He can eat all day and not gain a pound. But they wanted him to drink these shakes that help with that. Well lets just say that didn't happen. My personal opinion is that if they have to drink something in order to change their body structure then they shouldn't do it. If his body was meant to look like a weight lifting model then with his workouts he should be able to do that naturally. If he can't perform that naturally then he doesn't need it. Body types are meant to be different, he can overcome that with his eating habits, sleeping habits and work outs. Mom doesn't need to go spend 200.00 a can for this thing you mix with milk. I loved when he told be but its full of vitamins. I bought him a bottle of vitamins to take every morning. Kids today are surrounded with television which makes them believe they need to look like that. We must intervein. What happened to just being who you are? Without fixing it with a drink? Well per medical beliefs on the web they go both ways which means you have to decide perhaps with a physician what is good for your young adult. It seems as though if the information comes from someone else they seem to listen more. Good luck and let me know what you find out.......

If it at gnc and see it could be anything in a red container i will drink 2 a day i at 7 in the morning so i can so i can stay awake and the other at 9 or 10 so i am. I like amp it's good and full throttle the amp is from moutian dew company and full throttle is from coke cola company

My brother was going to give my son the whole container of that stuff but i told him no he couldn't have it. Some of that stuff you have to be 18 to take and this was one of them i think!
