My daughter was very upset because she found out that I was going to go to India, on vacation, even though she couldn't come because her traveling papers haven't come yet. WE had thought they'd arrive by now, but they haven't. I'm going to India for 10 days in a couple of weeks, and I was thinking of leaving my daughter with one of her aunts.
When she found out, my daughter cried and cried, declaring I was supposed to spend summer with her, since I only have 3 weeks off in the first place. In her room, she threw a tantrum-throwing everything around. I noticed a small hole in her wall from all of this commotion.
What should be the punishment? ↓

Oh for God's sake, what would YOU do if you were going to India on vacation but then you couldn't go because somebody screwed up the timing for your travel papers? I'd throw a pretty bloody ENORMOUS tantrum, because it's CRUEL. If anybody I knew - a friend, let alone a daughter - couldn't come with me, I'd do my best to get a refund and delay the trip. Don't punish her for wanting to spend time with you, it's counter-productive and will only make her despise you.
Do everything you can to get those travel papers - DEMAND them sent first class, whatever it takes.

it is kindof selfish that you are going to India with your friends & not your daughter. wouldn't you throw a tantrum at that age too? Think about it from her perspective.... A vacation with your friends is more inportant to you than your own daughter? I know it's exaggerated, but that's how she sees it.
