From the time your children are very little you should be dropping hints about the subject, that way when they are a older it's not (a) an embarrassing subject, and (b) the doors of communication are always open. When you see someone smoking a cigarette say something like "that is a dirty and bad habit. Cigarettes are bad for your health and can hurt or kill you I can't believe people still smoke with all the information out that points to its dangers." Then lead the conversation on to other substances. Don't over do it he/she may get sick of hearing it and he/she may think that doing it may be a good way to get your goat so just be casual but informative. Good Luck ↑ |
