I have had a guinea pig before and they are not as good as hamsters or gerbils.Hamsters and gerbils are really small and they only need small spaces and they're really good fun to play with.Hamsters and gerbils do live more shorter than guinea pigs but they're wonderful pets.I'll give you the reasons.......
.They only need small spaces
.They're much more cheap than a guinea pig
.They're assentials are really cheap
So I'd say that if you think that a guinea pig costs to much or to big,by a hamster or gerbil.  =

My piggiw is the same way. well, both of them are. i think that it is both. my guinea pigs are both really jumpy though. 1 is a baby, and the other is almost 4 years old. their both girls. i introduced them about a week ago and the seem 2 like each other. mybe you should consider a 2nd guinea pig 4 him. penny, the older 1, used 2 b really depressed, not she is happier that a newborn pigglet.  =

yes, but you may find some babies, also your female piggies may fight over the male
but dont worry, you can get a larger cage or have 2 or 3 cages connected so each piggy has his of her own terotory  =

the purring sound is a "keep away" sound, this means he is angry. the best thing to do is put him back in the cage, otherwise the may begin to nibble you gently to try to tell you when he wants *my piggies do that* if you ignor all sighns he may bite you and draw blood *my piggies do that - it HURTS*

Red urine is the sign of a urinary infection and you should take your piggy to see the vet.

Guinea pigz need lots of water at all times to keep them healthy. They also need vitamin C.  =

Yeah, you are right Guinea, pigs are like dreams or imaginations, they always be on time when you threat them right, but if you did threat them wrong no doubt baby, you won't get to see their are smiling side. I know some guinea, pigs, their are very happy and healthy looking able to make me smile at anytimes, but it took me a time before I were able to know the right way to be with them, but since then trust me it's just wonderful give it a try. Friends remember some cows, don't remain inside the fense.

Guinea pigs make great first time pets, I had 11. I started off with only one and thought it would be great to see our first guinea pig have babies. They are so adorable when they are born fully furred, eyes open running around and squeeking. This year I gave them to a farm. I had too many. but they are great teachers these little creatures, my 6 year old son can be ruff at times but he was always gentle with these beautiful little animals.  =

It sounds like an infestation of lice. These are quite common amongst guinea-pigs, but the pregnancy has probably made her body more vulnerable. Buy a special shampoo - from either the pet store or the vet and I'd also take her to see the vet as well, as she may need some further treatment. Make sure that you tell him that she's given birth recently as this may have some bearing on the type of treatment that he prescribes.

In the future try to shampoo your guinea-pig at least once every two weeks with some anti-lice shampoo. Towel dry her then dry further with a moderate hair dryer (not too close to her skin though). Don't put her outside until she's thoroughly dried. You'll also have to start shampooing the babies as well as these lice are very easily spread. Humans can't catch them and they're not dangerous, however, if you don't treat her then her skin will begin to get very sore, crusty and probably develop a fungal infection.  =

You can, but not usually unless you want to breed them. Guinea Pigs breed continually, they dont have "seasons"
A female can have a litter, then get pregnant again straight away.

Its not really cool to do this, because its pretty cruel to keep the female continually pregnant. It can lead to serious stress.

Most people keep three cages. Because male guinea pigs fight when there is a female around. They keep the females in one, and males in the other, then if they want to breed, put 1 male and 1 female in the spare cage until the female gets pregnant.  =

I just got 2 piggy's 3 days ago and they are females. They seem extreamly shy they run around there cage when I want to take them out when they are out they hide almost like very anti social.
I had 1 before and he didn't act like this. I keep the cage in my living room and when were home I give them free rain of the downstairs. Will this change after time after they get to know me? I feel bad for them I wonder if the previous owner ever even took them out of there cage?  =

i totaly agree!!! i absalutely LOVE guinea pigs i have lots this is a list of all my guinea pigs (i will put the 1s that have passed away in capitals ok) : bonnie, daisy, spunk, sasha, benny, BAILEY, ELIOT, BIG BAILY and ROZIE. :( ok well first i got eliot and rozie (brother and sister) then whent to hold rozie n she was super fat n a little while later they were moving then she had them when i was at school their babys are daisy and spunk then found out that daisy was pregnant from her dad she had 2 babies benny and baby bailey , then i got bonnie from the petshop n she had her babies in a cage with rozie (this was just a few weeks after daisy and spunk were born n i didnt no they eat eachothers babies!) so rozie ate bonnies babies then i got baily from a different petshop then rozie fell pregnant but she was having her babies when we were at school n the babies got stuck so she died n so did the babies :( then bailey died i think he was constipated or somethin i no he died when he was goin 2 the loo. then last week sometime i picked up bailey n saw that he had dioreah but i thought he'd be ok coz i didnt no how serious it was if they had dioreah but then not yesterday but the day before my little sister found him dead n i didnt no what he died from i thought he got hurt from 1 of the others or something like that but then the nxt day i found eliot laying down in the cage leaning on the side of the cage n i picked him up then looked at him n saw he had dioreah n so i noticed he wasnt eating or drinkin so i looked up on the internet n found a place n they had stuff on dioreah n so i did wat it told me 2 (but i couldnt take him 2 the vet coz we dont have verry much money ) n then the nxt day found him dead in his cage:(
( sorry bout my long story about my guinea pigs n goin way off track ) so any way guinea pigs are great fun!!!! but they can get verry sick n they need fresh water everyday. well i have 2 go now n by the way bonnie is pregnant with eliots babies n sasha the new pigy is also pregnant but not with any of my piggies  =

guinea pigs are great pets. they are just wonderful. their not to big, not to small, not slimy & not so fluffy(In some cases). it is good to have guinea pigs. problem is that one of our7 guinea pigs has some thing I'm not sure of. her bum has no hair on it & it's starting to worry me. if you have an answer post it.  =

I don't know when but it's not the umbilical cord it's their bum you see. boy's have a thing that sticks out you know what that is but girls don't. has anyone ever had a guinea pig that has mated with it's brother or sister & had pups. what do they turn out like? not that I think 2 of my guinea pigs are going to have pups just I wanted to know just in case.  =

They will look no different then they do now. It isn't uncommon for guinea pigs to inbreed. Just as rats,mice,hamsters and gerbils do.  =

I love guinea pigs so much i have 2 girls ziggy piggy and starry duster, they are very happy living in their giant pig pen in my front room they are very spoilt, what a life eating celery carrots and hay all day and being stroked and cuddled sounds good to me :-) my piggies purr when they are happy  =
