I got her yesterday and bought a worming tablet and flea drop thing to put on her neck.

Just as a precaution.

She hasn't been itching...but I'm paranoid.

So...I tried to feed her the tablet in a bit of chicken and she kept spitting it out.

So I put it in with her cat food and she just left it there.

She isn't that interested in food at all.

And I'm at my wits end because this morning I woke up there was a round worm in her faeces in the litter tray!

Now I'm paranoid I'm going to get it! Or have already gotten fleas!

I've had cats all my life but this is the first time I've gotten frustrated about them

You can buy worming drops which you put on the back of their neck just like the flea drops. Go to the pet store, or ask your vet for some. I use them......there is NO way I'd ever be able to get tablets into my eldest cat.....she's crazy.

Don't panic about the worms. Just don't let any kids touch it and remember to wash your hands. A couple of days aren't going to make much difference.

I cannot get worming tablets into my 2nd cat. I have to take her to the vets, and have other nurses help me worm her every 3 months. Because she puts up a huge fight, and being pregnant, I don't want her scraping me. Take her to the vets, and get them to worm her for you. They'll also check for ear mites, lice, fleas etc, and treat them accordingly. She'll need to be vaccinated anyway ... Good luck!

Well the vet gave me the drop for the back of the neck.

I never heard of that one before, I must say.

And I'm delighted, I gave it to her yesterday...and so far she's been fine :)

I wouldn't worry about the worming tablets, unless you see she has worms then try to give her them. You will see them in her stool if she has them, you can also take a stool sample to the vet they will test it for you. Good luck with your new kitty!

If you are going to give her a pill....well it takes both me and my husband to give our cats any pills (cats are squirmy) so one of us holds them in our lap and keeps their front paws down while the other prys open their mouth throws the pill as far back in their throat/mouth as possible and hold their mouth shut (it's not mean that is the way my vet taught me to do it) she'll be forced to swallow it....She will be mad for a little while and then get over it.

wrappping a cat in a towel makes it safer to give it the pill but you do need to just shove it in the throat and hold the mouth shut.
if that isnt an option for you use a syringe without a needle crush the tablet mix it with abou 10ml of water and suck it up then place it in the coroner of the mouth near the throat and plunge some time th eliquid makes it easier
