As I read through all of these topics about Pit Bulls of all types I understand less and less.Every breed in the world has the potential to be aggressive or well tempered. That does not make any better than the other.Dogs of any type should be owned by people who will provide breed specific care and control. No matter how often everyone argues their own personal preference it doesn't change anyone elses' deas. People like what they like and that is all there is to it. I preform dog rescues for a living and I foster them in my home as needed. I will foster a dog regardless of breed; but I personally prefer dogs over 65lbs. That is my personal preference and I will not change it just because people watch the news and don't research their claims.I'm not sure why some people seem to think that an entire breed of dog would need to be euthanized. To me it is a very poor decision.I think that dogs that are not able to be rehabilitated or are suffering due to medical conditions should be put down for their own mental and physical well being. I also feel that dog breeding should be heavily monitored so that we know what kind and how many dogs are being bred on purpose.I think that it might help people keep the dogs from ending up on death row because of bad owners.I also believe that limits should be placed on breeders so that we would have less shelter dogs in general.I'm not sure that this post will receive a positive response but I will stand true to my convictions and hope that at least someone will get something positive out of it. Please spay and neuter your pets;and also do your research so that you get a dog that will mesh with your family and life style.

This place was insane for a while! There was so much debating and arguing about the bully breeds. I could have pulled my hair out at the time.

i own 2 bully mixes and an american pit all because in my great state they have about 24 hours to live if animal control takes them and i will fight them on dogs every time because they cant take the dogs if they haven't proven to be a threat and i always carry blank forms to have dogs relinquished so i do my best but of course i'm not every where in the state all the time.i've also taken an English coon hound and a Border collie mix that are probably never going to be adopted but they are both pretty good dogs so they can live out their lives in my house. I thought it might just be me but im not concerned about breed when it comes to temperment . some people are scared to tell me the truth when dogs are full or part of certain breeds because they think that i wont take them. and i ask more so that i know if im getting an100lb rottie named tiny or a chihuahua named tank. i wouldnt have scuch a problem with rescues and transports if people didnt act like the genocidal freaks on some of these topics. ......maybe that was to harsh?i guess ill call them undereducated narrow minded ignoramus types

I have a chihuahua who thinks hes a tank, lol!!! I must say they are one of the most difficult breeds to train. I also at one point adopted an American bull dog, he was the sweetest dog but unfortunately when we went out he ate every thing in sight. We eventually found him a nice home where some one was home all day with him. So see the smallest ones can be most vicious! Every one who sees the chihuahua thinks he is the sweetest dog but hes the one that will chew a finger off. My Doberman people are afraid of, and he wouldn't heart a fly! It was the same with the American bull dog and he was the most timid dog ever. Most often breed does not predict temperaments.

i agree im glad to see that we can both agree on it and not have to defend ourselves. i fostered a St. who was named tiny he was over 150lbs. When i went to pick him up i didnt think to ask the breed, it was only my 3rd or 4th transport. Now i never just wait and see. When i do transports for organizations that are not my usuals they some times just leave the names and locations. and some times i have to call people at 5am to find out the details. they get mad but they dont do it again.

lindalu ,
The government in our great state are putting a bill up for vote that states that it will be illegal to posses or own more than two dogs that fall into their dangerous dog category and thta people who are already in violation will hav 60 days to correct it or extra dogs will be euthanized what do you think about that ? i dont think that it will pass be cause we have alot of liberals in office right now but if it did..........

In what state? I live in Massachusetts.

No... I don't agree! I think if a new state law is to be passed such as the one you mentioned they should grand father those who already have the dogs. Not making them get rid of the dogs they already have.

I also think any healthy dog should never be euthanized because of a law! I say uthanize the legislators who feel its fine to kill another animal because of their breed.

This kind of talk always angers me! It goes to show you how far our states have not advanced, when they can talk about taking an animals life just because they say its ok to.

i live in ohio its supposed to be one of the people from around lake erie that is trying to start it . i guess that they already have pretty strict laws in his home town and he thinks it should be state wide he is from one of the types of developements where they tell you what you are allowed to have on your lawn and you have to have the same mail box as every one else and you cant leave your car parked in you driveway it must go into the garage (there i go rambling again)my point was he likes a conformist society because it makes him comfortable . and i say to hell with his comfort. i ned to look up his name its something really common and i cant think of it off the top of my head it was on the 10o clock news last night
