Hi, I am 25 years old and have 1 step daughter I have been trying to have children for 5 years and I was over the moon to find out my partner and I are having our first baby but now I have been told I do have a risk of my baby having downs.
I do not know what to do I can not have the fluid test as I am high risk and it will 80% cause a miscarrage.
I also work in disability care and know alot of the clients I have would prefer not to be here but alot of people get told thair baby could have downs and they don't I really don't know what to do I work in disability care that dose not mean I want my child to have it.
is there any mothers on here that have children with a disability and would have not kept it if they knew? I dont know whats more mean to have it or not to have it It's killing me and just wanted some advice

I really feel for you because it must be so frightening to be told this. Fortunately it was never detected that my little boy had down syndrome and to be honest i am happy they never found out because the fear of the unknown is a lot worse than reality and if we had of been told , i can say i honestly dont know what choice we would have made. I look at my 7 year old boy now and if i knew then what i know now i deffinitely wouldnt have been so frightened and scared. He is a gorgeous little boy and we are so proud to be his parents. When we were told he had down syndrom we could not imagine having a child with special needs and very selfishly we thought about our future in caring for him forever. But looking at him now we neednt have worried because he is the most independent person i know.
