My name is Brittany. I am 22 weeks pregnant with my son, Adam. I am 16 years old and a junior in high school. My boyfriend/ the father of my child is 20 and is out of high school and is fully supportive and there for me. I did not plan to get pregnant, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I was usuing birth control as a contraceptive, I switched over m birth control and it failed. I wasn't sad when I found out that I was pregnant, however my mom on the other hand, wanted me to get an abortion and my father was dissapointed and expected better out of me, but he was okay with it.
I was about 17 weeks pregnant when I found out that my son has down syndrome. I went to Rockford Memorial Hospital in Illinois and they are now taking me as a patient. Rockford Memorial Hospital for high risk mother took me for my 20 week ultrasound at 18 weeks and 5 days. We found out that my son, Adam, has a very large whole in his heart, and is going to need open-heart surgery when he is born. That same day we also had found out that his urethra is blocked, and there is very little amniotic fluid. The doctors had scheduled a doctors appointment exactly 3 weeks from that day to do another ultrasound on March 5th, 2012. We had found that he has pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart), and he also has fetal posterior urethral valve obstruction(cysts on his kidneys from the back up of urine.) I go back to the doctors March 13th, for a meeting to decide if we are going to do surgery to unblock his urethra so the flow of amniotic fluid would increase. I am extremely worried. I feel that lately I am leaking a lot of fluid but I'm not really sure what it is. If anybody has gone through any of this, It would be awesome if I could have some advice
