Hi, Please help us we are having a tough time of it at the moment with our 22 month old.
We put him to bed at 8pm as normal(he has a normal routine which is bath at 7pm then a story and some warm milk with a cuddle from mummy and daddy)he goes to sleep fine as he always has done, but come midnight he wakes up screaming it is as if he his scared of something because he is covering his eyes and ears,i took him to the doctors because i thought he might have a ear infection but she said that his ears are fine.
We have tryed different things like leaving a lot on in the hallway,we have moved toys out of his room that we think might be scaring him but it is still going on.
It has got to the point were i am sleeping on his bedroom floor untill he settles and then getting back into my bed,but he wakes up again and sees that i am not there and starts up again.
Myself and my boyfriend are taking it in turns to get up with him.
Please help!

I dont really know what to say. But I have a daughter about the same age and I bet that is frusterating. Have you tried to play music or something. Maybe that will make him think of something else besides something scary. Or maybe try recording your voice reading a story. I really dont know how to help. keep us informed on how it goes! I hope to read some good answers for u

Have you asked him what's he's scared of? Sometimes stuff on TV can be scary for him and he might have nightmares. I hope you all get better sleep soon.

It sounds like a night terror. I don't know much about them. Try having a look on the internet for some information about them. Sorry I can't help much.

My son is almost 2-1/2 and we're going through something similar. Does your son have a particular stuffed animal that he finds comforting? Something that helped us a little was that we got him this aquarium. When you turn it on, it lights up and looks like real colorful fish are swimming around and has soft water sounds. I hope you're able to find a solution soon, because when he gets older, he'll be able to open his bedroom door, walk into your room and crawl into bed with you.
