I have a question for you.....

Have there been any rashes going around kids in your area? About all the kids around here have a rash, just wondering if you knew what it was? It started more less in my kid's elementary school, the nurse there said an allergy to the field day t-shirts, they gave them to the kids to wear on there "play outside day" , but that got blown out the window because younger, not in school, kids are getting it too....Morgan had it last week, and Gabe has it 10 times worse this morning. I had to run to Wal Mart to get him some benadryl, it's working, but itchy......looks like poison but I guess with all the kids getting it, it's probably not......

......just wondering if you have it that far west? and any ideas on what it is? Morgans lasted about a week.....thanks!

Hi Dana. No, nothing going around here. Very interesting. The tee shirt idea was reasonable, esp if people did not wash them before the kids wore them first, but then you said others that did not have it got it too???
Sounds like something in the environment though, something new. You live in a farming community right? Have there been any new pesticide treaetments or anything going on around the community?? I am very interested, please keep me informed!! Give me a call too still waiting to hear from you!!

Have you thought about Scabies?? It looks just like a rash, itches like hell, and spreads like wild fire.

That's possible Dawn, or ringworm, but the nurse should recognize that. Kids just spread everything!!

Ring worm is easy...my son wrestled so I've seen those little Cheerios more times than I want to admit. Ewwwww!!!

Scabies ran through our babysitters kids. First one, then two, then ALL of them. Everyone of us took our kids to the Dr and was told, allergies, impetigo, heat rash, etc. Out of 6 Dr's only one got it right. Maybe they don't see it too often anymore to diagnose it correctly right off the bat.

scabies is unmistakable! I've had it twice.....caught it at work!

The itching is intense! The worst ever....you make your skin bleed by itching during the night etc........you can't miss scabies!

It tends to occur on the wrists, groins, back, buttocks and folds of the arms.

not scabes or ringworm, but it looks like an allergic rash, if that makes sence.....as far as I know there are no new chemicals being sprayed, the farmer beside my house hasn't even sprayed this year yet, but I don't know about at school, if they sprayed for anything......it would make sence if it was there, because alot of parents pick up their kids, with the younger kids along, and I don't....and Luke hasn't had anything, so my guess is it's not contagious.........who knows, maybe just a virus going around? If I was to guess it looks like chicken pox, but......not as bad, and I guess not contagious......so who knows, maybe I'll never know!

viruses cause rashes.

You could try steeping them in a bath with Lavender Oil in - will soothe the skin. Apply Calamine Lotion for any itching. Witch Hazel also works as does Bicarbonate of Soda.

Give them Paracetamol and an antihistamine in case it is an allergic rash.

Wash absolutely everything!!!!!!!!!! Twice!!!!!!!!!

then, see the doctor if it doesn't subside.

he's yelling to be on the computer, and kick me off now, so he isin't feeling too bad, and he quit complaing about the itch since he got his meds!

He sounds okay then.

It's a worry when they get these things though.

....yes...I don't mind them getting sick, as long as I know what it is, and it's treatable.....I thought Morgan had poison until everyone else had it too.....so if you treat it as poison it goes away.
