vent on my dh...yet again
driving home on the highway doing 100km when out from a side road enters a little old man in a small hatchback...now we did have enough time and room between our cars to pull up safely, even though it meant braking full on, but my dh decided to keep our speed up and then brake right on the tail of the other car and started screaming and shaking his fist like an absolute moron...never mind me beside him clutching the seatbelt and bracing for dear life!!
So starts a screaming match of the century!! me yelling at him because he didnt brake sooner and he yelling back that i shouldnt be yelling at him it wasnt his fault. Now i know that the other car was at fault but, is it only me, i would of braked safely, mumbled to myself about inconsiderate drivers and drove on.....but not dh...NOOOOO we had to tail gate the man for the next 5km and scream, rant and rave at the man....I kicked my dh out of the car and told him under no circumstances that if i am in the car I DRIVE!!!
aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh

Actually, the other car was not at fault, if you see someone trying to merge you are suppose to adjust your speed or change lanes to let them do so.

Thats why its called "merging" and not giving way.

he wasnt merging, he was entering from a side road, merging is when there are two lanes, one that ends by broken lines into the one next to it...coming to a T intersection with a huge red stop sign at the end of it does not entitle you to roll into the highway....at no time did i mention merging, i do know the difference...Just like i know its just as dangerous to travel on a highway or a freeway doing 20k under the limit

marija, did you say your dh was/is a cop??? I thought cops would know how distracted people can be when driving or - if older drivers - with lower reflexes. Wow, and tailgating... Did he have a bad day?????

Trust me just because your a cop doesnt mean you dont have you faults. In some cases it makes you even more senseitive to road rage. or the law. alot of times these seniors shouldnt have a license but is hard to get them to realize they need to turn them in. In this case it does seem like hubby might of had a bad day.LOL! You do the driving Marija.
we had to go to the city with my parents for my sons doctors opt. this week and my father drives really close to the cars ahead. I just took a nap and prayed for the best. I guess they think the person a head gives a crap that someone is driving close.

hi E yes he is a cop...doesnt change the fact that he is a road rager...age has no barriers with him he wont compensate for anything...to him, if you dont adhere to the road rules and be competent to drive safely then you should be off the roads or at the very least be told about your behaviour...hence the tailgating and screaming...Yet he himself is a poor driver something he cant see!!!

You are right, girls, cops are people, too....lol

My dad is a police officer as well, and his saying is "I am paid to enforce the law, not obey it" THat is his comeback when I comment on his driving

LOL momof3
mine is in his 27th year and still thinks those stripes entitle him to drive however he wants....He got extremely agitated when he failed the defensive driving course and had to resit it, of course it was all the instructors fault...NOT!!

Yep, my dad is the same way. He is only part-time but has been on the force around 32-33 years now. Anyway, he had a Porsche, and would fly down the interstate ramps, or better yet if he does get pulled over he doesn't stay in the car, he gets out with his badge and walks back to the officer. Last time he did that I told him "Don't come crying to me when one of them shoots you for that," He just laughs about it, but in today climate you never know what could happen. He could get some rookie that is nervous and jumpy and that would be it.

My dad drives like that! On the interstate he does 80-100 and weaves in and out of traffic like he's on a car chase or something! Then if another driver pisses him off he will ride their ass and then swerve around then cussing them and giving them the finger! And then he will swerve back in front of them and then take off like a bat out of hell all pissed off and bitching for miles!

Cops are the WORST road ragers. I was sitting at a set of traffic lights and this policeman in uniform (probably on his way to work) pulled up in a utility right on my bumper. When the light turned green and I drove off, he followed me through the intersection right on my bumper and overtook me at the last minute while I was turning. He looked back at me and I mouthed the word "jerk" to him. Then he pulled around in front of me and breaked for a second, like he was going to pull me over.

He thought twice about and continued on. (Probably because he had nothing to explain the reason of why he pulled me over)
I had my daughter in the car in her baby seat, and I was furious.

If they are going to police the streets, they need to set an example. Whether they are IN or OUT of uniform.

I drive at 80 or 100 on the highway all the time. In suburbs I stay on but usually under the speed limit. I get the finger ALL the time. Im not breaking the law, I dont drive too slow. Since Ive had my license, Ive never had 1 accident. Not even a fender bender. I had a really nice little car and I recently sold it to get a car more my driving style. Its an automatic (Ive never owned one before) and when you have the air conditioner on it slows the motor down. I dont care, I love it. Ill get the finger no matter what I drive.
