I am writing a paper for my child development course and was wondering if anybody would bewilling to help me. My topic is the cost of preparing and raising a child. My question to this group is after finding out your family was pregnant, how did one start to save?, what kinds of things were you saving for?, What was being purchased in preparation for your child?, and how much ended up being spent in preparation for your child? (How much is spent on formula/toys/diapers/etc. per week.)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all very much and good luck

Well I started by picking one item that I needed then on pay day went to get it. I get payed every 2 weeks. My son is 1 mo. so formula is pretty cheap right now. One large can at 22.00 every two weeks. One large pack of diapers at 17.98 every two weeks. 1800.00 gets all the big stuff for the room.

With my prgnancy, I didn't have a job, but my parents started me out. The necesities are formula, bottles, bottle heater, crib, tub, diapers and clothes once a month being they grow so fast as well as shampoo, wash cloths, oil, and towels. Prices vary so if you want to go and look for these items and price them where you are from. It's not easy starting with nothing.
