I'm a working mom with great children (6 year-old in kindergarten and went to daycare and a 3 year old is still in daycare).

Let's share some time saving / good parenting ideas:

-No time for scrapbooking - keep a wall calendar in the children's rooms with a pen nearby. I jot down all the things they say or do in the mornings or evenings.

-Take lots of pictures and put them in the photo album right away.

-Clean their bathroom while they take a bath.

-Keep a couple of small plastic containers with cars and other toys in the kitchen so they can be close to you while cooking dinner

-Vacuum the heavy traffic areas in each room once a week - kids help get things off the floor if needed. Vacuuming increased the life of your carpet and just the look of a clean carpet makes me feel like we have a cleaner house!!! Plus it really only takes about 20 minutes to do this.

-Immediately throw away junk mail

-Let kids tape their artwork someplace in the house. Our's is the kitchen walls. It doesn't match the interior decorating of the rest of the house but they love it - and it keeps them busy switching out the old pictures for new ones.

-Keep food and non-water drinks out of the bedrooms - we only allow water.

-no tv in the kid's rooms

-bath every other night - unless they are stinky from playing outside too much!!

-lots of hugs and kisses!!!

This is what I think message boards should be about - sharing ideas - not slamming everybody. If you try your best at parenting the children will feel it and be great people.

Any good ideas out there?

Any other tips out there?

Another one - only buy one type of sippy cup (I chose Playtex), this avoids never finding the right lids/stoppers.

Layne- your right we need good advice not slams. but your ideas are good ideas for all moms not just working moms.I especialy like the clean bathroom while there in the tub. Although stay at home moms have more hours in the day with the kids who wants to spend the majority cleaning all of us get sick of cleaning. when I did work i had to be more organized when you stay home we tend to put off more knowing we always have tomarrow. Thanks foe the tips i feel more motovated already.

Just back from vacation with 3 and 6 year old. Things I'm glad I took:

-stool for my 3 year old to reach the sink to wash hands.
-bed rail
-case of bottled water
-lunch food and snacks
-roll of paper towels
-paper plates and napkins
-ziploc bags

What I wished I had taken:

-bag clips

(i'm not a working mom, but...) BASKETS. lots of them. One for the kids, one for the mail, one for your husband if he needs it. I keep a basket that goes from the kids room to the living room and at the end of the day EVERYTHING that doesn't belong just gets tossed in the basket and taken to his room. That way it's out of sight (of course then you have to actually put things away later - but they aren't in the middle of your floor at the end of every evening). Same with the mail, when basket is full everything either goes into the garbage or if it's bills then they get sent out.

Lol, the trick is to make him take out the basket full of garbage and lock the door behind him atomic snowflake.
