I am beginning the process for a private adoption. I'm a single woman and also gay. The social worker first meeting is coming up. All the books I've read say to not to be totally forthcoming if they ask about sexual orientation. Anyone have experience with that? I don't want to lie, but I also don't want to hurt my chances to adopt. Thanks.

They aren't supposed to take that into consideration, but good luck because prejudices still exist. They normally don't ask about your relationships, unless the person is in attendance.
